"First Pitch" Dinner and Auction at Orange HS

The Orange Panthers baseball team and the Orange Baseball Dugout Club would like to announce the first annual Orange Baseball "First Pitch" Dinner and Silent Auction will be held on February 9th from 5:00-8:30pm at Orange High School. Tickets are $20.00 each.

The BBQ dinner will feature speakers UNC head coach Mike Fox, UNC assistant coach Matt McCay and Oakland A's prospect Josh Horton. Coach Fox led the Tar Heels to back-to-back College World Series and national championship games in 2006 and 2007. Coach Fox has posted a 398-176-1 record in nine seasons at UNC. Three former Panthers (McCay, Horton and Chris Maples) have played for Coach Fox during his tenure with the Tar Heels. Matt McCay was hired as an assistant coach for the Tar Heels last fall, after a six-year professional career and seven years as an assistant coach at Orange HS. Josh Horton helped lead the Tar Heels to two National Championship series appearances and an ACC Championship.

The dinner and auction will serve as a fund-raiser for the 2008 Orange High baseball team. Tickets will be available from the Orange Baseball Dugout Club members, the Orange baseball team or by contacting Coach Dean Dease at [email protected]

Man, if I wasn't so far away, I would love to come to this. Coach Dease has a pipeline to Chapel Hill. Good luck, Coach, on your fundraiser. It sounds like it will be a blast!

If you can ever come up with an idea where you could do a silent auction on TBR, let us know. We would be happy to help. Shoot, Stretchy will pay big bucks to have Josh help him umpire for the weekend :biggrina:

    Once upon a time

Larry D. will have to pay as he has my big bucks!

By the way did Coach Dease coach an 11-12 year old allstar team in 1999? If so I was the Rocky Mount coach that got thrown out of the game by his umpire. Unreal scrimmage game.

    outta here

That wasn't me with the 11-12 year-olds, but I wish I would have seen it.

I have been thrown out once or twice myself. One umpire sorta looked like this :bigear:

    Game intensity

This guy was short and overweight!! He threatened to break my finger if I kept pointing in his face. I was livid. My kids were shocked so I have never been thrown out since. My assistant coaches could not stop laughing. What a game. The umpire actually said to me "stop arguing this is not the world series" ....AMAZING.
