    Intersting

It is interesting that Freedom received more votes than Butler following their game in the Bojangles Shootout. They have lost 2 games: West Charlotte (ranked #5 in 4A) and Bishop McGuinness (ranked #1 in 1A).

My guess is scheduling, all of our losses have been to top ranked teams. Yes we lost a head to head with Butler. We'll probably see each other down the road again though..

    Inaccuracies

East Meck lost last Tuesday (1/8) and their current record is not reflected in a 1/16 poll?

    Who is capturing the data?

How can you vote and have a poll if the information is not current? If proper information is not available and informed decisions cannot be made, what purpose is there in having a poll?

    Rankings

Butler is not even listed in honorable mention this week, after being listed last week. What makes it even worse, is the fact that they beat East Meck last Tuesday (1/8) at East Meck and they could be considered the #11 team.

Butler has victories over East Meck (#11 - who have lost only 2 games) and North Meck (#15 - who have lost only 3 games) and is not ranked or even listed as honorable mention.

    Very interesting.

First Flight won the battle of Northeastern Coastal Conference unbeatens in Kill Devil Hills on Friday.

Gerrisha Moore led the Lady Aces (12-4, 4-1 Northeastern Coastal Conference) with 10 points while Alisa Perry paced the Lady Nighthawks (16-0, 5-0) with 14.

First Flight v. Pasquotank (1-11-07 from the Outer Banks Sentinel)

When a team is loaded underneath and power-packed from the outside, they're hard to beat.

And that's exactly what Pasquotank found out Friday night when the Nighthawks flew to an easy 47-32 victory over the Panthers.

With Carolyn O'Neill back in the line up and Alisa Perry playing perhaps her best ball ever, the 'Hawks are covered inside.

But when you look at super shooters such as Paige Murray, who had three threes in the game, how do you defend such a solid team?

Coach Rex Sponhaltz said Pasquotank was a better team than some of the others his team has faced so far this season.

But his team's experience level and talent gave them an edge. With the win, the team's record moved to 15-0.

Murray led all scores with 13 points. O'Neill had 12, Kristina Argiroff had 8 and Perry scored 6. Lindsey Robertson hit a big three and Megan Gomez scored 3.

Argiroff continues to play tenacious defense and can drive the floor faster than anybody.

Action began on Friday when Gomez hit Perry underneath. She did a textbook, 180-degree pivot to face the basket and scored.

First Flight put on a full court press and the Panthers turned the ball over several times.

Murray hit back-to-back threes as the Nighthawks jumped out to a 8-2 lead. Following a Perry miss, O'Neill got the rebound and put it back up.

Murray blocked a Panthers' shot and Argiroff went straight to the hoops for two.

Play was physical under the basket. Again, O'Neill got the offensive board and put it up for two more.

Argiroff scored the next four points as First Flight went up 18-8.

Action slowed down in the second period as First Flight only scored five points.

Whatever coach Sponhaltz said to them in the locker room at the half worked because the girls came out and scored 12 points in the third and fourth quarters for the win.

Both the boys and girls teams are scheduled to host Edenton Friday night
