Team forming for summer and fall of 2008 will be having try-outs on Jan. 26th. Team will be based out of Granville Co. (J F Webb & South Granville) Try-outs will be at J F Webb High School at 1PM (about 10 miles north of South Granville for those of you who attended Coach May's "boot camp." Summer schedule will include 5 events with 1 being the World Wood Bat in Ga. July 15-20. If there is inclement weather, we do have an indoor facility, but every effort will be made to be outside. We're looking for 2010 graduates or 2009 who's b-day is on or after May 1st 1991. Also, any 2011 graduate that wants to try-out, as well. Try-out will consist of about 50 swings, 50-100 ground balls, catchers and outfielders being put through an extensive workout, and pitchers throwing bullpens. Anyone interested in more details, just PM me and I'll be as detailed as possible.

I got no problem with giving these kids an opportunity to try to play at a high level. What one coach does not need, another does. There are excellent players in the area. We had 1 off our team get picked up by the Hurricanes-South this year by seeing him at App. St. last year. That's a hell of an opportunity for him. Some just have never been seen or given the opportunity.

This is a great opportunity for players in the Triangle area. Coach Allen is an extremely knowledgeable baseball coach that players enjoy playing for. It’s good to see someone willing to give more players in the area a chance to play at a higher level. I’ve known Allen for years and there’s no one that has more passion for the game. This is great news!

Thanks for the kind words. It looks as though our team will be named the "Carolina Lake Monsters" Thanks to all for the response for try-outs. We're really looking forward to this thing. For anyone interested we do have a web-site. It's kinda new and in the beginning stages, but hopefully after try-outs, this thing will shape up even more. Thanks to Piratefan for that. www.tbw.embarqspace.com

    Tryouts this Saturday!

According to TheBaseballWarehouse, there should be quite a turn out Saturday. It's great that there was so much interest and it demonstrates the need for a team in this area. See you on Saturday!

Coach May, We had a great turn-out. 23 kids from 15 high schools. Kids from as far south as Fayetteville and as far west as Hickory and Thomasville. 6 '09's, 16 '10's, & 1 '11'. Pitchers looked real good. Had 2 throwing fastballs at 83-84 on the stalker gun. 7 catchers, yes 7, with pop times ranging from a 2.0 to 2.4 on a consistent basis. Mainly 2.2's and 2.3's were the norm. An abundance of infielders who were fundamentally sound. About 4 were really outstanding with their fielding motions and arms. Outfielders were a little slimmer in #'s, but the few we had, had great workouts. Avg. to above avg. arms. We had some to really swing the bat as well. Each had 3 rounds of 8 cuts apiece, so of course my arm feels like jell-o. I won't mention any names yet, until I contact each of them and post a roster. After that, I'll drop some names out to watch out for and you can visit our web site to see all about them. I appreciate what you and Coach Evans did for us, and we'll be leaning on you a little more, after the roster comes for help and advise. Also, thanks to Coach Tate who came to watch, and we ended up putting him to work. I was very pleased with the try-out, and thanks to everyone who came. Can't wait to see some of these guys playing.
