This is a great program provided by ASA. Until now, this program and courses have always been offered at locations quite a distance from NC. Now with the online availability, it makes it much easier to participate.

Oklahoma City, Okla. --- The Amateur Softball Association announced today that their ACE Coaching Certification Program is now available to coaches nationwide in a new web based format.

Coaches who had an active certification as of 2007 can access the online system with their prior information and continue their certification beginning with the next appropriate level. New coaches can begin certifying online with Level 1. Coaches can watch the ACE Coaching Certification instructional videos and complete their certification tests at http://ace.usasoftball.com.

The ACE (Achieve, Certify, Educate) Coaching Certification Program is a certification program, developed and designed to provide softball coaches of all levels – from beginning coaches to experienced veterans – an opportunity to certify as a coach with the ASA.

    100% in agreement with Abbey.....

....he's right. When my DD was 8ish, the rec ball org. that she was affiliated with asked all of the parents who were giving there time to look into this program, or at least something very similar to ACE. This ACE educational stuff is the heat, and it will benefit both parents and coaches especially at the rec level. AND it will provide others at the TB side equally. The earlier a coach learns this stuff, the better!

No sir, Cheeze. This is a coach education/skills program. From what I have read and have been told, it is a program suited for coaches of all levels of experience.

The background check program is something that has been recommended by ASA. I believe each ASA state association is responsible for implementation with guidance from the national ASA office. Maybe Rick McHone can update us.

    Money Maker

It's a money maker. I've met rec. coaches who were ACE certified and had other certifications and they didn't have a clue about mechanics/fundamentals.

    Maybe

You get out, what U put in and maybe the guys U know did not go into the certification to learn and put the skills to use. Don't make blanket statements given one or two examples. Personally, I have not taken the courses yet, so can not comment but if they will help the young ladies in softball to get better guidance, then I am for it.
If there is anyone that has taken the certification courses, please comment on here so we can get an idea of the programs' worth. The guys I know involved in ASA are serious about their jobs and I am sure the guys in NSA, USSSA, and AAU are as well. Sure all want to make money as that is what keeps the doors open for any business but if U offer a quality product for the charges U receive, then U are providing a good service, Agree? Might better add a legal product before someones goes off on me! Ha Ha :gossip:

    Certificate

I'm just saying you don't need a certificate to be a decent to good coach and just because you have a certificate doesn't meant the like. You need common sense, knowledge of biomechanics/physiology, and the ability to evolve/constantly come up with the most effective methods to play the game. Background check though is a good thing.

    Oh

Don't think I said U need a certificate to be a good coach, the things U say U need are good but not all ideas others have are bad and if we turn off areas we can possibly benefit from, maybe we will not remain that GOOD COACH. Some of the very things U mention can be updated possibly through these courses! LOL
