Scoreboard wasn't running, but I'll tell you what I know.

(1st) Game: South Meck 1 (Solo Homer)
    Davie County 0

Ryan Carter pitched the first (2) innings for Davie, had around 4 K's, 1 Hit, 0 Walks, 0 Runs
Zach-Russell Myers pitched the second (2) and gave up the homer
Not sure who pitched the last (2) innings for Davie

    (2nd) Game: South Meck
    Watauga

I think Watauga won by the reaction of the crowd, got there for the last few outs.

    (3rd) Game: Watauga 5
    Davie 4

Clint Howell pitched the first (2) for Davie, had a few K's and 0 Runs
Garrett Benge pitched the second (2) and gave up all (5) of the runs I think
Jess Cartner and Shelton Howard pitched the 5th and 6th for Davie

Ryan Carter and Jess Cartner had solo homers for Davie

Watauga beat South Meck 4-0 in 5 innings

Watauga beat Davie 5-2 (Not 4) in 6 innings

Watauga's Tyler Moore pitched all 5 innings vs South Meck struck out 6 and walked 1.

Against Davie Jon Sharpe pitched 5 innings. Giving up solo HR's in the 1st and 5th. Jake Wallace pitched a perfect 6th.

The Pioneers scrimmage @ West Caldwell Tuesday @ 4:00

Watauga opens regular season play Tuesday the 26th when they host West Wilkes in a JV/V DH.

    For South Meck:

Daniel Glenn went two, John Coppedge went two and Tyler Woods went one all scoreless against Davie. Joe Shealy hit the solo homerun.

Shealy went two, Jeff Barkley went two, and Woods went one more against Watauga, not sure about when the runs were scored though.

What a way to spend a day.

I thought all three teams represented themselves very well Saturday. They were all ready to play. Pitching I believe was a little ahead of hitting for this time of the year. I was happy to see all the hustle of the players, fans in the stands that were knowledgeable and respectful, the coaching was great and yes even the umpiring was above average!

I got to see the very end of the first game with Davie and South Meck so I can not say much about that game. The second game with Watauga and South Meck was all Tyler Moore. The guy was really in the zone and never got into any trouble. I do not have the stats but I hope they will get posted because he was the man! You want to talk about flying under the radar??? This guy can pitch!

I believe the young man that pitched for Davie in the third game was Howell. Please correct me if I was wrong but he looked very good. Pitched the first two innings and had a great line – faced 8 batters, 1 strikeout, 1 hit, 1 BB, 0 runs. He really did a nice job. There second pitcher (name?) gave up four runs but still did a good job. He made some good pitches, but had some bad luck behind him. In two innings, he only gave up 3 singles, 1 BB and had 2 strikeouts.

Sharpe got the win for Watauga. It was good to see him have to work a little. In four innings, he only gave up four hits but two of them were bombs. The young man that hit the homer in the first inning (number 16) deserves a “that a boy”. He took a low and outside pitch and drove it to right/center. Great hit!! Sharpe did a nice job on the mound – five innings- 5 strikeouts, 4 hits, 1 BB and gave up 2 runs. He never faced more than four batters in any inning.

We played an extra inning after the Umpires left and both the pitchers, Wallace for Watauga and I think it was Howard for Davie did very well. Wallace – 2 strikeouts, 1 BB and a controversial hit. Got to rib the sub ump a little. Howard – 1 hit and then got them to ground into a double play.

Not sure how much information I should give out on Watagua's hitting but I will say that Hardee, Dunnigan, Church, Lowder, Shelton, Story and Gordon all got hits in the last game. Great job guys!

What a great day of ball between three well coached teams. It was what it it was – A great day of scrimmaging.

    an army of blue.

We can not complain cause they did a really good job! I lost count on how many of them where out there. Not sure if they were doing training or just a tune up but they were all over the place. It was one time I beleive the fans where scared to say much because we looked out numbered.

    Davie pitchers

What should be expected out of the pitchers for Davie? Will they have a lot of young pitchers? Just curious about the pitching? Thanks for any replies.
