    Great Job Weddington!

Great Job Weddington. They are just wearing people out! I'm looking forward to seeing them soon.

Latin needs to keep on "keepin' on" and things will take shape for them. Right now it looks like they just don't have the horses to hang with teams like Weddington.

I'd be surprised if Weddington wasn't in the top 5 of the next 4A Poll.

    Hopewell over Providence

    Hopewell 4, Providence 2

WP - Adam Waters, Save - Jonathan Fisher

Hopewell bounced back last night after their heartbreaking lost to Myers Park last Friday night (7-5). Adam Waters pitched superb as he kept the big bats of the Providence lineup at bay....Hopewell hit the ball well the first couple of innings but didn't do too much with the bat once Providence changed up pitchers. Rusty White was 2-3 on the night, with big hits coming from Blake McGee and Jack Lane...Fisher and White started the game by reaching on an error and a hit....score was 3-0 after the first, with Hopewell only scoring one more run in the remaining innings....however it was enough to maintain the lead, as Providence knocked on the door a couple of times, but could not plate more than 2 runs. Hopewell travels to play at Ragsdale this afternoon, instead of the tomorrow (in anticipation of the rain)....will be a good contest for the Titans.

    West Meck @ Butler

    West Meck 0
    Butler 10

Patrick McMahon (2010) pitched the complete game shut out, scattering just a few hits.

Butler leading hitters: Rawlings 2/4, Tewell 1/2, Brewer 1/2 (HR, 3 RBIs), McMahon 1/2, Moore 1/2, Deckbar 1/2 (3 RBIs). All Butler batters were very patient and reached base at least once in this game

    South Caldwell defeats Hibriten 5-0

South Caldwell goes to 4-0 on the young season defeating county rival Hibriten 5-0 in Lenoir. Cody Poarch for SC throws a no hitter and allowed 1 walk in 7 complete innings. SC did commit 1 error late in the game. Hibriten's ace, Brian Tuttle, pitched a very good game only allowing 6 hits and forced SC to play the full 7 innings for the 1st time this year.

On the season the Spartans have scored 44 runs and only given up 1 unearned run. The team ERA is 0.00 as South has 3 very strong pitchers. Granted SC hasn't played the toughest schedule in the world to this point but nonetheless I've been impressed with what I've seen so far.

So far on the year SC has 35 hits and 6 HRs hit by 5 different guys and has given up on avg 1 hit per game for a total of 4 hits in the first 4 games. This year's team may be better defensively than last years and has impressive team speed. They put tremendous pressure on the defense by stealing a lot of bases. I do not see this year's team being a better hitting team necessarily as last year's team and I can't imagine them hitting the long ball as well. Of course also missing this year is Madison Bumgarner who could almost single handily beat you with his bat even when not pitching.
