    S.C. program

I don't think the post should have used the word dynasty. There are alot of opinions on what a dynasty is. Multiple state titles may be one type of dynasty( East Rutherford, DH Conley, Rose, etc. come to mind.) I think over a long period of time South Caldwell has been a consistent powerhouse. I think they fit real nicely into this group of elite programs. It started with Hall of fame coach Fred Lanford and has continued with Jeff Parham. It also is a result of outstanding youth programs, middle school programs, legion programs, etc. You come out of the womb with pinetar on your hands in Caldwell county and probably eyeblack. I love the baseball towns that are still left that eat and sleep baseball. You do not have to defend your program it speaks for itself!

    007,
I also owe you an apology because the way I see your title now with a ? after the word dynasty, I know you were just giving South their credit due. It's the way people perceived the word that made it get ugly.

I've enjoyed it!!! Good Luck to everyone this year. Stay safe and keep working hard.

It used to be a dynasty in 4-A NC baseball was defined as repeated state championships and when you looked it up in the dictionary, there was a picture of Ron Vincent. Maybe it still is.
While it may not quailify as dynasty, 4-A teams that make it to the finals two years in a row these days is as rare as repeat championships used to be. To me it's a relative term.
By the same token, East Rutherford is undoubtably a dynasty in 2A, but I could also make a case for West Henderson being a dynasty. To me, it's sustained excellence and SC fits the definition.

I have to agree with 007 i dont think there has been enough talk about the state (5) and national rankings (38) that there would have been had we not won state last year. While im on my soapbox it baffles me when i see 100 hs players and 50 hs pitchers ranked ahead of him. I know its not all about stats but 25-3 and an era under 1 is pretty impressive. sorry him was referring to Jimmy Messer.

    Dynasty ?

Does 4 State Championships in 6 years qualify as a DYNASTY? (It's only been done by one school in the modern era 1960-)

I'm going to go way out on a limb and say East Rutherford.
BTW, there have only been two back to back 4-A state champions since 1960(New Hanover in 93-94 and Rose in 03-04).

East Rutherford 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007. I don't know the definition of dynasty, but I think ER 's accomplishments this century (and the last 20 years) match up with anybodys. Programs that come to mind when you think of HS Baseball include South Caldwell, TC Roberson, JH Rose and Cherryville. Nothing like tradition!

    South Caldwell

in my opinion would fall into the category of a dynasty. The other programs listed in the previous post would as well. They are going to be hard to beat this year. They have outstanding pitching. Outstanding posistion players who can hit. They have experience and great coaching. But in a one and done format anything is possible. But SC is definitely a dynasty in my opinion.
