    Todays Game

TODAY IS THE DAY WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR. Mooresville at E.Rowan at 5:00. Its early in the season but this is still a HUGE game. The loser will still have a chance to win the conference but the winner will be in the drivers seat.

I wouldn't be suprised if the winner of the conference has 4 losses in conference, because a lot of these teams have an ace who could win a close game(Lamascola(sp?), A.Johnson, Overcash, Shepherd, etc), but I don't see anybody being as consistent all year long as Mooresville and East Rowan. Mooresville and East have the deepest pitching staffs and when the weather warms up, I believe, so will their bats.

Any details on the game between East Rowan and Mooresville? If East scored 6 off of Meadows, that is pretty good, unless his defense let him down. Did East really pitch Roland?

Aubrey Meadow pitched about 5 innings and East got 1 hit off him... a homer by Justin Roland. Matt Lefko knocked in a run with 2 outs on an error by the thirdbaseman before the hr. next batter walked to set up the 3 run hr.

Roland did pitch 6 innings and didnt give up a run on 3 hits about 2 walks and 8 ks
Meadows looked good for Mooresville and shouldve been out of that inning that he gave up the hr. struck out about 6 or 7 and walked about 5 or 6.

Zach Smith and Trey Holmes doubled off Bonaventure for Mooresville to bring in a couple more runs for East Rowan

East struggled to get 3 outs in the 7th inning with Micah Jarrett walking3 and giving up a hit, and Cody Laws giving up a bases loaded single. Corbin Shive came in to nail down the final 2 outs on Mooresville's 2 and 3 hitters.

For whatever my opinion is worth, that answer is no, not this year. I figured East Rowan was the strongest team 1-9, talentwise and experience, probably have the league POY in Charlotte signee Justin Roland playing short. Question I had about them this week is apparently they are having injury problems on the mound. Mooresville is also very talented and has very strong pitching, which carries you a long way at the HS level. With East beating Mooresville not even using one of their top 2 pitchers shows you just how strong East is 1-9. Look for Mooresville to be at their heels all season.

As for others, can never count out Northwest Cabarrus and West Rowan, who have talent as well. Just not sure these 2 usual conference powers have what it takes to battle East this year. Looking forward to some great games in this conference this spring,,,,, obviously I'll be pulling for NW's 115 boys when they take on East or whoever.

Btw, can anyone from East share how the Basinger kid is doing after being taken to hospital in game earlier last week?

Aubrey Meadows gave up 8 walks 3ks with 2 hits and he went 3 and 2/3s innings but only gave up 1 earned run. He stuggled a little bit with his control even though the ump had a tight strike zone. He will bounce back well against lkn so dont worry.
