I am sure there are quality collegiate programs due to injury and academic issues that are
looking for unsigned 08 student athletes.

Please list those potential athletes so they can get a true shot at a possibility at the collegiate level.

Danielle Devlin, 08, INF/OF, 4.0 GPA, top 5% of her class at private school.

Athletic, strong arm, home run hitter, can literally play every position on the infield and outfield. Range and strong arm of an outfielder, but also has quickness and glove for an infielder. Has offers from smaller schools, but holding out for a larger, higher caliber school. Has competed well in Colorado and at the Rising Stars, but still hasn't got the right offer yet. Got a lot of positive comments from coaches at all levels, but none were looking for '08s.

    Listing 08s?.....

.....are you asking for a list so that "the list" can be on a public forum, with the hopes that a college coach might search here and find a player? College coaches have long lists of potential recruits already. Why these talented kids have slipped through the cracks is beyond me. But, IMO, it might serve a 08 unsigned kid better if they and their coaches and their parents to make DIRECT contact. Showing a REAL interest in a program means alot to coaches! If they have to go looking, they'll not find that interest in print. E-mail, Call, hell, ride down to see a game or two at a school, and ask if you might have a couple of minutes of the coaches time to discuss possible roster opportunities. The time for waiting to hear from them is long been over, now its time to be assertive! Good Luck!!!!!!!! Don't give up, theres a team for every kid if she wants it bad enough to convince that coach to beleive in her.

    08s

Players fall through the cricks all the time for whatever reasons. Even when their coaches and them contact coaches at college/universities. Just because a player doesn't get recruited by a certain school or a certain level of competition school doesn't mean they cannot play at that level.

    08 unsigned

Also, colleges sometimes end up having different needs after the season starts due to injuries or the big one is grades.

This is a legit list so college coaches can contact the players that are not signed for 08
    due to whatever reason.

    Everyone deserves a shot.

    Level of play?.....

....I just said that there are talented kids who fall through the cracks, and I'm not judge or jury on recruiting them either. BUT, TFS, maybe the coaches who are recruiting think that a kid can't help them at their LEVEL. The Blues, Cardinals, Flames, Storm, Cobras, Dominators, have all been part of advancing top D1 players. They've also seen their fare share of kids who were awesome on the field for them in TB only to not be recruited by the bigs. You obviously care for the well being of all of our kids or you wouldn't give your time to the kids as you do. But, the truth hurts, for all of us. At some point in time our LEVEL peaks and is no longer what is recruitable. I should know, I was the best player in NC history but for some reason, the New York Yankees never came calling. .......I'll bet it was that HS coach that was stabbing me in the back. lol. Good luck, Fishman

    Legit List...

....is appropriate and needed. My posts were not intended to negate or ignore the purpose of such a list. I'll do anything I can for any kid who might need some help, recruiting wise. AND, positive threads like this one are just what the doctor ordered so to speak. Fastpitch needs folks to stick together to make it better for the kids down the road.

    2008 Unsigned Players

This is my first post to this board. I appreciate a couple of the elder members referring me to this site. I registered as a member so that I would be able to respond to this specific post.

I came to this softball program late in the year from UNC. (By collegiate recruiting standards, very very late in the year.) I have a roster of 12 players now, but will be losing a few to graduation this year. So, I am still searching for a few unsigned 2008 high school grads who want to come into our program, help us build a top NCAA DIII program here, and make an impact in our program next season.

I would like to refer you to our website www.meredith.edu/athletics. From there, go to the softball link at the top of the page to check out our growing softball program. Look at the qualities we have here, our college, our majors, our location, our facilities, our players and our coaching staff. I think you will be impressed. Read some of the softball articles. Check out our media guide. If you have questions, feel free to email me. My email address is on the website. Even better, come out to one of our games this season and introduce yourself!! Good luck in the remainder of your high school season. I will see you on the field this summer.

    Coach Luck

I also want to welcome Coach Luck. Had the opportunity to meet him while he was at UNC where he was well liked and is missed.

Should be some great games between Meredith and Peace in the years to come!
