    Hopewell-2
    East Gaston-0

    WP: Christina Melton 17 K's
    LP: Michelle Primm

A very good game between two very good pitchers. Hopewell had timely hiting and scored a run in both the first and last innings.

Tameron Sealey led the way for the Warriors with a pair of singles.

The Titans were lead by USC-Upstate signee Janna Lewis who had 2 hits including a double and a run scored. Also Carmin Schelling had two hits for Hopewell.

The Warriors drop to 6-2 on the season.

I really think this game helps them out alot and if the two temas play again down the line I'm sure it would be another great matchup.

Broughton defeats Millbrook in dramatic fashion

I don't know what the final score was but Broughton defeated Millbrook by one run this afternoon with an in the park homerun by Kirby Zachmeyer, a Freshman playing in her first Varsity game, in the bottom of the 7th.

This concluded an amazing week for Kirby where she hit 4 homeruns (1 over the fence, 3 in the park on fields where the fenches were 260+) in 3 games and was the winning pitcher in one of the games for the JV team.

North Meck defeats Central Cabarrus in 12 Innings, 2-1

What a game, two freshmen pitchers go the distance in a very exciting game.
It was a shame one team had to lose. You'll be seeing a lot of these two
    young ladies.

Sarah "Boomer" Mooney (North), and Morgan Hopper (Central).

    Unearned runs?

You stated that both runs by Hopewell were unearned? You saw the game a lot differently than it actually happened. Here is a replay of the scoring.

1st inning - Lewis leads off with a double to left. Spain follows with single up the middle. Melton grounds to short, and throw to first, Lewis scampers home from third.

7th inning - Crosby leads off with a walk. Giragosian advances Crosby to second with a sacrifice bunt. Schelling hits smash (and I mean a rocket) to second, which deflects into centerfield for a base hit. Schelling moves to second on throw to home from centerfield. Knox strikes out for out #2. Lewis singles up the middle scoring runner from third. Runner that was on second is thrown out at the plate on a very close call.

2 runs total in game. Both earned runs off of Primm.

It was a good tight game, and both pitchers pitched very well. Not sure of the strikeout count for Primm, but Christina was definitely on her game, giving up 3 scattered hits, and striking out 17.

good luck to East Gaston the rest of the season. It would be nice to see these two teams meet up again in the playoffs.
