Not sure what 2A South Stanly's record is, but they are one of the teams who beat Mt.Pleasant, heard they had a very good pitcher.

And travis, can't explain why East Rowan isn't getting any respect in the polls. I've said it before, I'm nuetral, and so far based on what I've seen,,,, I would rank the top 4 NPC teams like this:

1- East Rowan (only 2 losses are nonconf games, one to 4A power North Davidson)

    *** then, theres a gap

2,3,4- Mooresville, South Rowan, Northwest Cabarrus (in no particular order, because all 3 of these teams are talented and capable of pulling the upset, but if any of these 3 would beat East, then it would be considered an upset clearly. More than likely, these 3 teams will likely split with each other during the season and finish 2,3,4.

The only difference between the 4 teams is E.Rowan does not beat themselves.

Fortheloveofthegame,,, I agree, and that is the experience advantage that the East players have over the other teams, coming from a very successful HS program and a very successful legion program during the summer.

Btw, I appreciate the Observer folks (Cliff) for doing these polls. Even when folks disagree, it makes for good baseball discussion.

I dont think its the experience factor because the boys from Mooresville have play alot of travel ball. I THINK Mooresville only draws from a very small city limits and E.Rowan draws from a bigger area!!! I know it is small also but larger than MOORESVILL CITY LIMITS.

    TJ/South Stanly

South Stanly is actually a 1A school that plays in the Rocky River Conference 2A/1A. The pitcher's name is Wes Hatley and he can pitch. I look forward to the match up this coming Friday between South and West Stanly. West Stanly has three undefeated pitchers, USF signee Matt Reed at 6-0, Matt Large at 4-0 and Bradley Love at 1-0. South Stanly should be ranked and East Rowan should be ranked ahead of West Stanly. East Rowan travels to the old ballpark at West Stanly on Wednesday. It should be an interesting week for West Stanly.

    South Stanly

DCL26 -Thanks for the vote, but South is very young and generally makes a few too many errors per game. IMO they are not deserving of a vote,(not yet) but they are getting better every game. Luke is getting it done and I too look forward to the matchup Friday at WS. Hopefully we can continue improving and be ready for the playoffs. We would like to go deeper than the 3rd round this year.

Who is the coach at South Stanly,,,,, don't tell me you got another one of the Little brothers. :notworthy Dem boys know their baseball...

Btw, thanks and good to hear from you DCL. Sounds like the makings of a great game East Rowan at West Stanly. West Stanly has "quietly" went undefeated this year,,, did they (or do they) play Charlotte Christian this year? I remember them going to Charlotte and beating that private school last year,,, surprised a lot of people except those who follow WS baseball.

Actually Charlotte Christian put it on us last year, it was the year before when we went there and won. Luke Little has done a good job taking over this year at South Stanly for Jeff Lamb who took the Stanly Community College Baseball coaching job. You never know Mark Little might come back to the area, (Marko's and Luke's dad) then we could have a dad and his two sons coaching. Guys pay attention to the Hatley kid, if he continues to develop he could be very special.
I like that we are flying under the radar this year. West Stanly has some serious ballplayers, the catcher I believe has 5 home runs, the shortstop 4 and both are juniors and we have three Senior Pitchers that are undefeated. I still do not think we have the horses to run with East Rowan, but you do play the game on the field, so who knows until Tuesday.
South Stanly will do damage in the playoffs, mark it down, young as they are playing in this conference will only prepare them more for a run in the playoffs.

I do believe East Rowan beat West Stanly something like 28-1 in a scrimmage game... no offense to West Stanly and yes it was only a scrimmage...

I was not there for the scrimmage, basically most of the starters were still playing basketball for West Stanly, and one of the starting pitchers was out of town with a sick grandmother. By no means am I saying what East did to West was a fluke, East is a quality team, I think West will be more prepared this time. I still pick East based upon talent to win. But, once again that is while you play the game on the field. I believe East has beat West the last two years in a row. Coach Hightower does an excellent job preparing his kids, and those Rowan county boys can smash the ball.
