    Defense letting her down?????....

....the last time I looked, its generally the pitcher fielding a bunt, BAM, stands straight up, and sends the error to rightfield. Call me brother, where have you been?

    defense mistakes

And a lot of the time those catcher mistakes are the pitcher not hitting her spots like she's supposed to.

    Real Deal

Anna went to Nationals last summer with us and was my most effective pitcher, keeping us in games and also got game winning hit in a thriller of a game that allowed us to continue playing. Anna has good stuff, hits her spots, and will surprise with her speed. As some have said SWR is the champ till someone beats them in Raleigh or keeps them from getting that far.

The same for Butler HS 4A champs, they should be #1 till they lose.

the 6 seniors from last year were some of the best defensive players I've ever seen , 1st base was error free last year and dug some ugly stuff out of the dirt and made alot of gumby like stretch's to make alot of extra outs , the catcher has just a cannon for an arm and is playing D1 , SS was as good as it gets with amazing range and very accurate arm , both outfielders were solid and just begged people to run on them so they could gun them down and I mean a rope was coming to the plate if anyone rounded third , and last but not least the little lefty pitcher finished her career 33-0 including play offs and final four games, they also went to 3 final fours and the year they didnt go which was there sophmore year they finished 21-1 , so these girls were alot more than great hitters, they were the total package.
this years team has two great pitchers left from last year,Anna Maness and Brittany Marsh , Marsh shut out D H Conley in the final four last year with a 1 hitter I believe and Anna was outstanding vs. Kings Mountain , the infield wont miss a beat from last year with all but one having final four experience , Stacy Mac back at third and Cynthia Hayes at SS and Holly B catching and BM and AnnyM switching 1b to Pitching the outfield looks real good in two spots anyway but the team needs time to gel with the new starters , true the HR hitters from last year are gone but this years team has more speed and almost the entire lineup can slap or drag from the left and hit with authority from the right and there are 3 or 4 that can go yard , so this years team has the talent and can repeat as champions , just need some chemistry to go along with the new look

the daddy ball thing is right!
is it right for dads to be able to take over a school team and coach it?

sw started out with 7 seniors this year and is now down to 3.

I thing dogjaw pretty much summed it up about this team. I don't think there is very much left to say. Take the team that you have and do the best you can. Support your high school. Good things will happen.

    A fine line...

I think in general it is okay for dads (or moms) to coach school teams as long as they are real coaches (they love teaching the game and developing players) and not just coaching the team so their daughters (and their friends daughters) get playing time.

Speaking from experience as a coach, it is a tough situation to be in. Even if your daughter is clearly one of the top 9, you will always have parents of non-starters who think their daughter is better than she really is. As soon as the team loses a game or two or your daughter hits a mini-slump, there will be rumblings of you playing daddy ball.

Most parents don't realize everything that goes into coaching and selecting the starting lineup. Every girl has strengths and weaknesses and things constantly change depending on what the coach sees during practice and who the next opponent is. If you know the opponent has a tough pitcher, you will need to manufacture runs so most of the time you will go with a girl who has a better bat and a so-so glove over a girl who is lights out defensively but can't bunt or run.

    Just my two cents worth...

But there is a non-parent coach there that has brought in the daddy's and that's were the problem's are coming from.:xyxthumbs:
