SC made the adjustment from the last game. They were ready for Moore this time and it showed

Chavis had a big night 3 homeruns off 3 different pitchers. The last one was a monster shot that I think cleared the trees in left field

Chavis mashed those 3 balls, but his most impressive was not the 3-1 pitch he took deep for his last HR, but the 2nd HR where he took that outside curveball opposite field.. not really sure how he hit it, much less out of the park. South brought the bats tonight for sure, who said their offense isn't that good this year?

no one should be saying that......they are solid 1-9 like they always are. it starts with the leadoff and he is fast as lightning and it just gets better after that. this year has just been a culmination of good coaching paying off and teams like reynolds, east burke, and watauga developing players like south has been for a long time. there has been parity this year but south looks to still be sitting at the top. congrats on the big win last night

That second homerun was an amazing hit. But you were wrong about one thing and this is what makes it even more amazing. He did not go opposite field but pulled the ball over the left field. The ball was a low and away curve ball the he reached out with the bat in he’s left hand and poked the ball out of the park. Not sure anyone hits that ball, much less pulling it for a homerun. It should have been a dribble to second base. There was no stopping him last night! Tip of the hat!

My fault... I must have been thinking of another HR, maybe someone else hit the one opposite field I was thinking of... there were so many last night... was it 5 HR's for SC?

No big thing! I was just impressed the way he hit it! He’s a beast! As far as number of homeruns, I can’t bring myself to look back through my scorebook. I think there were four but I will check tonight. Someone else may have a better memory.

I also want to say that I was very impressed with both teams character last night. Several things happened throughout the game that could have gotten out of hand. Both teams represented themselves well! Everyone knows my loyalty belongs to the great guys at Watauga but South Caldwell moved way up my respect meter last night.

Last thing, Messer is one tuff dude!

Good post... you're right both teams and coaches showed great character. I thought someone else for SC hit one... I'm getting old I guess. Kudo's to the umpires for keeping everything civil when Messer got plugged :rockon2:

Jimmy gave new meaning to his bulldog toughness. He pitched the last inning tasting blood. Hope he's OK.

BigDipofCope: There were a couple more that were hit to the fence that we thought were out. Brad had a slow start with his HR's. We all knew it was just a matter of time. The game after the first Wat. game, he hit 2 in that game. Ugh! One game too late LOL!
