Has anyone seen a base ump call someone out for leaving early? I seen a couple of teams where this seems to be the norm for every base runner and the base ump isn't making the call. Just wondering if anyone else has seen this happening.

happens, but it only seems to happen when one of my infielders brings it to the attention of the field umpire, otherwise, they just dont seem to be paying attention at all.

    Yep!

Happened to us several times in one particular game. We were trying to help out the weaker team get out of a miserable inning(s).
P.S. We did however give the field umpire a heads up!

He couldn't call what he couldn't see...

I haven't seen anyone called out this year for leaving early, but we did have a game that it could have been called about 2 dozen times or more. The head coach and I noticed a base runner leaving early and asked the field umpire to keep an eye on it the rest of the game. The very next inning we see another base runner leaving early (twice) and couldn't understand that he couldn't see the same thing, especially since we had just mentioned it to him about 10 minutes before. As we continued to see their base runners leave early, we suddenly noticed why we never got the call. He never saw it because he watched each and every single pitch that the pitcher was throwing. In certain positions, you could even see him move his head slightly toward the plate as the pitch was released. Even after the head coach called time and confronted him in the center of the infield, he never adjusted to watch the runner. I knew we wouldn't get the call after that, but he never even looked. An adjustment was then made on our behalf as coaches, we advised our baserunners to leave early. Never once did we see him look at a baserunner leaving the base, nor did he call anyone out. This was with both teams being anywhere from 1-3 feet off the bag on the release. Sometimes we ask for consistency and thats what we got. A consistent no-call!

This is how you do it...

    1. Teach your girls to keep pushing the envelope until they get called out...

    Once they get called out...

South Caldwell JV's had a couple

Called out for leaving base early, seems as though the pitcher had a hitch in her motion that got our kids caught twice in the same game......
So yes, I have seen umps call out base runners for leaving early this year.
