    AGREED!!!!!

Its time to move on. I was at the game between Freedom and Patton, everything Thad said is true. everyone in the dug out saw playing time. He threw his starting pitcher ( Hasson ) to only 3 batters for a total of maybe 7 pitches. There is not much else you can do when the other team doesn't make routine plays such as fly balls or groundouts. When a team works hard to make themselves better and you ask them to step off base in order to get an out, is that not defeating the purpose of all the hard work. Now dont take me wrong, I do feel that there needs to be some changes in the mercy rule. Now as for the Patton-Freedom mess, YES IT IS TIME TO MOVE ON.

Thanks Freedom. Since I don't know anything about either softball program, I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question.

As far as the other comments pertaining to transfers and such...believe me, I am the last person that EVER...and let me reinforce that...EVER...want to have any discussions on TBR about transferring. I just banned someone the other day for being a troublemaker about that subject.

Think of TBR standing for: Transfer Banning Replies

    Enough Already

I am the mother to one of the kids that decided to stay at Freedom High School instead of attend Patton High School. Our reason for staying at Freedom High School had NOTHING to do with Athletics. We decided that the best place for her academics and health was to stay at Freedom High School. If you need more specifics, you can take it up with me personally. My daughter would have moved back to Asheville to continue high school if the board would not have upheld her staying at Freedom, this was about NOT attending Patton, not about staying at Freedom.

I have had about all I can take on the whole Freedom/Patton issue from those who have NO idea what is going on.

I have enjoyed this board for the information it gives on several aspects of softball, basketball and baseball as well as keeping up with games and scores however the continual attacks at students is not necessary.

There are many sides to this whole issue that begins with not having an experienced Athletic Diretor in place in time to build the athletic programs at Patton High School, opening Patton provided a great deal of opportunity for kids to play sports who might have been overlooked at the larger Freedom High School however when you are not prepared in time to give the staff an opportunity to work with and develop those students, it hurts the students and the program as a whole. The students that came out and made the teams at Patton deserved much more than what the received and that has nothing to do with the 3-5 kids that decided to not go to Patton.

My daughter made her decision based on academics and other personal reasons, they had nothing to do with Athletics. If my daughter gets the opportunity to play sports at the next level, that will be great however with a 3.875 gpa, academics is her driving force and hopefully with success on her Travel Ball team, she will get the opportunity to continue being a Student-Athlete at the next level.

In the ballgame that has been discussed, My daughter personally had 4 at bats, the first one she was walked, the second one she hit a ground ball, the third, she hit a ground ball, the fourth she was asked to hit lefthanded (something she has never attempted), the fifth, an injured player batted in her spot. She did all she could to play the game but not make it look bad and so did the rest of the players and coaches.

The three players that were suppose to go to Patton but stayed at Freedom could not have been in all nine spots to make a difference in the ballgame.

The next time those of you have your outside comments or suggestions, attend the game and then you can see for yourself and not have to rely on someone else.
