    Agree

Yea knowing the school can be helpful. Research of a school or program is key and making a decision to attend. Many more things to think about other than the ballfield.

Since no schools were mentioned, I want to ask this question about D1 or D2 schools looking for players this late in the "game" for 08.

Why? Did they lose their commitments to other schools?

If they are only looking to fill a slot this year, should a prospective be concerned about being replaced next year, and potentially losing scholarship money?

I know these are hard questions but shouldnt they be asked?

    Generically

I think some schools lose players towards the end of the season for
various reasons, such as grades, decided not to play, injuries.....

Also, players may not pan out to meet the expectations the coach has for that particular position.

In most situations, if the player remains on the team, the scholarship money is not taken away.

This is not uncommon at all. There will be quite a few signings this summer for D1 and D2 for 08's. In fact, some very good schollys are open because of a sense in urgency in completing their signings.

There are a lot of reasons:

    - HS player did not get the grades he/she were hoping
    - HS player decided to quit the sport
    - Unexpected transfer
    - Unexpected player on team quit
    - Major injuries

In college, your scholarships are up for renewal each year. It's a business, you produce and it gets renewed, if you don't, you may not. That should be part of one's homework when discussing with a coach.

Absolutely!!!!! During the recruiting process. Unfortunately, some wait until after the fact to find out a certain coach has a history of turnover
