Awesome story

    [​IMG] 04/26/08 at 05:33 PM [​IMG] #1My daughter just called to say that the team she is helping coach, Western Oregon University, just swept Central Washington in a double header today where the games majorly would impact who was the conference leader. But that is not the best part of this story.

    One of our seniors hit a 3 run home run(her first ever) to take a 3-0 lead over CWU. She was so excited, she ran past 1st base without touching it. My DD, 1st base coach, yelled at her to come back and touch the base. As she turned to come back to 1st, her knee gave out and she went down. She was in pain and could not even crawl back to the base. DD knew she could do nothing to assist her. The CWU players had huddled up, when 2 seniors approached and asked if they could help her. Apparently the defense can assist the offensive player. These two seniors from CWU held up our senior, moved her from base to base, dipped her at each base so her foot could touch it and brought her home. Western Oregon ended up winning the game because these Central Washington players were so selfless and compassionate. That is true sportsmanship. God I love softball!

    Would have liked to been at that game!!! Really refreshing story. Wish both teams best of luck in their playoffs.

    Wow!

    This is a great story and it also tought me something that I didn't know. I wasn't aware that the defensive players could legally touch/help an offensive player. My first instinct would have been to go help my hurt player which would have cost her the HR.

    Gotta love this game and everyone associated with it!
