Anyone ever play it as a kid? Anyone ever been to the National 5 man team tournament in Mishawaka, Indiana? This year it is July 26-27 and over 50 teams are registered.

Great memories of playing Wiffle, Stick and Punch ball as a kid in the school playground.

    Wiffle Ball......

Must be big because they had a write up in ESPN the mag or SI about a pitcher and how he threw different wiffle ball pitches.

    Lemon Ball

Now this is a blast. You take the plastic lemons that the lemon juice comes in and you cut off the end the juice squirts out of. You can throw some nasty gas and curve balls with it. We hit with a broom stick. We used to hit with tobacco sticks but we ran out of those. It is an absolute blast to play. Try it , you will love the game. Its also funny as heck when someone gets nailed with it. It leaves a nice red spot. Dont laugh until you have tried this. Believe me it is alot of fun.

    Rainy Day

When my son was in high school at North Henderson they would play wiffle ball in the gym on some days that practice got rained out. The boys would have a ball and would be talking trash about a bomb they hit for weeks. Days like that keep teams loose and brings some fun into the middle of a hectic season. Sometimes I thought a few of the boys would rather play wiffle ball than the real thing. There is constant action and even the little guys could blast a bomb.

whenever my son felt like a hitting slump was beginning, we'd go out back and let him take about a million swings at the old whiffle ball.....worked throughout high school and legion ball.

its the only time i could throw one by him

    My claim to faim.

During gym class in the 8th grade we went through a wiffle ball tournament. It was the most fun I had ever had. If when you hit it it cleared the bleaches and hit the wall you were given a HR.

For some reason I could hit a HR every time. I was nicknamed the "Babe." Sorry Mr Ruth. Must have hit 10 or so HR. It got the whole school buzzing and we started playing other classes after school. We set this whole tournament up and I kept hitting HR after HR. It got to be hilariously funny.

So you now know you are talking to the HR King of middle school .

who didn't own a whiffle ball as a kid? Especially us old farts that grew up before video games, cable TV and the internet. Everyday was spent outside. baseball, softball, tennis ball, whiffle ball, ball of tape, whatever you had. Didn't need a bat - a stick, broom stick, handle - again whatever was handy. Gloves were optional unless you were playing baseball with a bat, which wasn't that often since it was harder to play baseball without a bunch of kids.

do kids even do this anymore? if not it's a crying shame. a culdesac full of kids playing roller bat with a tennis ball was a damn good time

    The Marble makes the difference

We played with the broom stick, and would force a marble into the whiffle ball. You talk about throwing junk.
