I saw another thread that stated that Swain HS had 11 seniors. I thought that was pretty incredible getting guys from one class to stick it out like that.

can anyone top 11, or even come close?

Ardrey Kell carried 20 on their regular season varsity roster including 8 seniors.

This is AK’s first ever senior class and no matter what happens to this team in the state play-offs, they have set the tone for this program from day one and will leave a legacy of excellence for others to follow.

    Jordan Darnell
    Jonny Eaker
    Ryan Markham
    Brady Mattox
    Andrew Miller
    Brett Nyenhuis
    Blake Parsley
    Kyle Stetson

Each and every one of their contributions was significant in forming what AK baseball has become. Thank you for making this program special.

Leadership , dedication , desire - three words that describe this senior class. They have meant so much to our program over the last four years. Four straight conference championships. A 38-2 conference record. And 20 plus wins in each year. All five are outstanding students with gpa's in the high 3's. And each one of them are outstanding young men that respect the game.

Im missing one kid the I wish I could have coached the last couple of years. Brice Hursey now at Wakefield. I missed this kid more than he will ever know. Good luck at Chowan College next year Brice. I will always be pulling for you!

ZERO. The roster is all juniors and sophomores.

19-7, tenth in the final regular season rankings

Ten runned the #1 team in the state two different times (Current #3 SE Guilford last Friday night and current #8 Rocky Mount at the Impact Challenge). Also had wins over Mt Tabor, Southern Lee and Southern Alamance. Four of their seven losses were to conference champs (Hopewell, SE Guilford (2X) and Glenn). Not too shabby for a young team.

It’s a testament to the talent level of the players and coaches to have done so well this year. Although at times it did look like the team could have used some senior leadership out there. Should be a great couple of seasons coming up as the players gain experience

    Swain Seniors

Zane Bennett, Tyler Shuler, Josh Allman, Cory Hipp, Ben Pacey, Brad Roland, Sean MacCourtney, Luke Burton, Chris White, Chase Sneed and Garrett Taylor.

These boys have played together since they were 10 years old, through little league, jr. league, senior league and fall baseball. We have lost 2 kids, one moved and the other gave up baseball. These are 11 young men that are together everyday on the field and off, they are best friends. If you run into one, there is always 5 or 6 with him at any time. Each one of these kids have 11 families and each family has 11 boys.

Tyler, Josh, Ben, Brad, Chris are all continuing their baseball careers in college, Zane is still waiting to see what turns out, and Cory is going to WCU to run the mile and 800.

As a father and friend, noone could be prouder of a group of young men than I am of these. Some on this board have had the opportunity to meet these young men and I am sure they will tell you what a great group they are!

One story about how special they are and I will quit (if you can't tell, I really love them all and they are dear to me) Josh and I were in Atlanta 2 years ago at the WWBA. His game was at 9:00am and about 8:55 am up walks 6 boys and a parent who had drove from Bryson City that morning just to watch him pitch. They all rooted and hollered during the ballgame and as soon as it was over and he came out to them, they started making fun of him and he smiled from ear to ear. He spent the rest of the day and night with them and it made his week. To this day, all of them have some sort of dirtbag shirt, hat, shorts or jersey that they made him give them. Nobody was ever more proud of him than his friends and teammates and he was never more proud of anybody than them.

You can send all 11 of those Swain boys to play Legion ball in Hendersonville. It sounds like a great group of young men. They have a special bond for life.
