What does everyone think of the 2nd round matchups in the 4A west? There are some really good ones. By this time of year everyone is playing their best baseball. Davie County at North Meck. has the ability to be a good one. Also Mount Tabor at South Caldwell if Mount Tabor can contain their offense and find a way to score a few runs. I read where South Caldwell's team era is below 1 and they have not given up more than 2 runs in a game all year. Looking at the matchups these 2 games have a chance to be really good. Hopefully the CPC will represent their conference well. What are everyone's thoughts on these 2 games and the rest of the West? South Caldwell's only loss came to Watagua with Tyler Moore winning the matchup 1-0.

    Watauga

Watauga has a lot of different weapons from what I have seen. Tyler Moore is a very good 6'5 pitcher with a lot of movement. He can reach the mid 80's and comes from three different arm angles. They also have a kid with 10 HRs this year too if my count is correct. I need some help on his name. Their hitting has recently caught on fire. They are being lead by the powerful A Church. He was hitting over .520 in conference play going into the conference tournament with about 6 HR. He delivered the game winning hit off of Rhoney against East Burke in the top of the 7th in the semifinals of the conference tourney but thats the only game I attended. They also have a second pitcher sharp (SP) who recently hit 90 on the gun. He is more of a power pitcher and gets better as the game goes on. He can pump it up there into the 90 mph range. I hear EF also has a kid that can get it in the 90s. Will he be pitching? Ill be there! Good luck Watauga!

yeah, ill be there too.....should be a great game, hopefully.....

not sure who will be pitching for east forsyth. probably shane dickerson, east's #2. their ace threw all seven friday giving up 1 ER. Ryan dull gets up into the mid to high 80's with a good breaking ball.

What has really surprised me with east is their freshman, luke dunlap. Freshman can rake. Hit an oppo bomb in round one at east forsyth

Alexander Central played South Caldwell a 10-9 ballgame in 8 innings. So more than 2 runs is feasable but they are still very good.

But that was the last game of the season, SC had already clinched conf. title and no. seed for states. Also threw the no. 3 pitcher, who by the way is usually pretty good just had an off night

Probablly good news for us. Only trouble we have had all years was the slower off speed guys. The fast stuff has gone out of the park a lot

Yep you got it. All the slow breaking stuff he throws kills us.
