Lumberton/Rose should be a great game.

I plan on heading down the road to see Apex and Hoggard.

My two cents on 4A East

Unfortunately, only 266 views and 5 replies on 4A East. Where's all the support from that part of the state? Well, don't have a dog in the fight but it's Friday, raining and I'm bored so here's my two cents.

Riverside v. Leesville. Probably a Steinbugler vs. Boston match-up. Both teams are solid. Riverside is scrappy, rarely beats themselves and usually scratches out enough runs to win. Riverside has the better record but Leesville has played a tougher schedule and riding high after upsetting #1 seed Pinecrest on Tuesday. Leesville probably has slightly more talent but Riverside is at home. This one's a toss-up. Riverside wins on a walk-off suicide squeeze 3-2.

Lumberton v. Rose. On paper Rose wins easily. But Lumberton is riding an emotional high coming off a huge upset of powerhouse Fuquay Varina. Love pulling for the underdog but unfortunately for Lumberton the clocks about to strike twelve. Rose wins 8-2.

Apex v. Hoggard. Another match-up of two number 1 seeds. Hoggard is strong, confident and has the better record. Apex is probably the underdog but they have the Corey factor. ECU signee, Corey Thompson can carry a team alone. Hence his 4-4, 1 hr, 5 rbi performance against Cape Fear last week. Corey plays well but Hoggard prevails in a close one 4-3.

Jordan v. Sanderson. Again two solid teams and no suprise they are here. Sanderson has the edge on paper and has home field advantage. They have a solid core of talented juniors that have improved evry year since starting as freshmen. However they threw their ace Mark Peterson on Tuesday. Jordan comes off an upset of # 1 seed W Johnston and may start junior PAC 6 POY Zack Bernard. Devy Bell's teams are always sound. Should be a fun game. I like Sanderson in a close one 5-3.

I'm with you ncsu82. There are a lot more members from the east now than ever before...where da at?

Who do people see as the favorite coming out of this bracket?

You've got Rose back in the hunt this year...that's scary. IMO, Apex has the best right handed hitter in the state in Corey Thompson and it appears that Hoggard is back, after many years competing for the State with Kyle Musselman and Co.

Lumberton is magical, Sanderson is on a great ride, but the one I like is Riverside. I don't know why, but they seem to have a team full of winners. They may not have the best talent, but they have the intangibles....they find a way to win. I love those type teams.

    Ok

Well, I'm going to try and wake them up with a few tough questions. This is what i percieve, so tell me why I am wrong.....and the answer "because you're an idiot" doesn't count.

    1. With the populations being somewhat similar, why is baseball in Mecklenburg county so much better than Wake?

    2. Isn't there at least 4 teams in the West that could easily win ther East?

    3. Why does the majority of the best talent in NC come from Triad area (Davidson, Forsyth, Guilford and Davie County?

Again, this is just for friendly, thought provoking conversation. No ill will intended.
