    Kannapolis-20 over Concord-5 (7 innings)

Kannapolis came out swinging in this nonconference game and led from start to finish, scoring 5 runs in 2nd inning, then adding 11 more as they sent 15 batters to the plate in the 5th, to seal the deal. Jacob Wright and Jason Brown led the winners with 3-run homeruns while Alex Edwards added a solo shot. Wes Honeycutt, Michael Boger and Daniel Welch had 3 hits apiece, while Grayson Thompson, Bobby Zimmerman and Hunter Pate added 2 each.

Kannapolis home opener is next Tuesday in another nonconference game with South Rowan.

Good intensity tonight from everyone, including the dugout.

3 games were played at Mocksville today. Mocksville beat Asheboro 12-11 in 10 innings the first game, Asheboro beat South Rowan 9-3 in the 2nd game, and Mocksville beat South Rowan 8-1 in the night cap in 7 innings. Great day for baseball and very nice crowd.

    POST 21

Burke opens up the season 1-1. I think Burke has a chance to make a good run this year. Patton had a good season, McDowell had a tuff luck season losing a ton of close games, East Burke was the surprise in the NW4A and Freedom had a tough year but the Washington boy is playing. It's been a while since BUrke made a good run but I think these 4 teams put together should be able to put a good team on the field. Pitching looks to be the strength and hitting should come around seeing that these teams scored runs in the high school season. Could be a Burke team from the 90's maybe?

South Rowan beat Randolph County (Asheboro) 2-0 on Monday in a non-league game. Ryan Bostian and Walker Snow combined on the shutout.

    Stanly County-8 over Kannapolis-7

Kannapolis lost a heartbreaker last night, after leading entire ballgame and taking a 7-5 lead into bottom of 9th inning, Stanly had 2 outs with nobody on base. Two consecutive Stanly batters hit ground balls (one up middle and up high chopper to 3B) where our infielders couldn't even make throws, putting tying run on base. Next batter ropes one to RF for triple tying the game, and same kid scored winning run 2 pitches later on a wild pitch.

Btw, home plate umpire was all over the place with his strike zone, but at least he was consistently inconsistent for both teams...:whoosh1:
