Not to take sides or anything but what ever happened to freedom of choice ??

Shouldn't I have the right to send my children to any school I choose ??

    Sure

Sure, you can. Choose a school, choose a home in that schools district, purchase, rent, lease said home and you have had the freedom to choose all that you want.

    what if?

Maybe if Butler looked past this player they have looked past others on the team as well. If they can play dumb once why not twice. Its not cheating until you get caught according to the way they play. Maybe a starter next time some calls the bluff. Maybe WSOC should check alittle closer.

    What about...

this as a scenario: if its true what Eastern907 claims, then CMS and its registrars should have been more diligent in their efforts to verify this student's address; especially as a transfer to a school that is closed to transfers. Nowhere in any of these threads have I seen any concrete proof that the coaches knew anything about this. The parents were out to deceive the school and they succeeded!
This is just another case of everybody ganging up to knock No.1 off the pedestal using whatever means possible. Its pathetic! If this much time and energy was spent on improving your own school teams, maybe Butler would have some better competition to play!!

I agree, not picking on Butler, but it seems CMS has taken the attitude that let them slide and ask for forgiveness. IMO NCHSSA needs to enforce the rules and if caught no exceptions, FORFITE any and all games that was illegal

    dog pound

"If you ask me anything I don't know, then I'm not going to answer" Yogi Berra and 08 Bulldog. Seems Butler coaches follow this quote to the letter too. Maybe the dog pound would have more poodles and not bulldogs if they didn't have inelegibles on the team.

I see where this thread has headed. Instead of having a mature, civil discussion about the problem, people want to make something more than the facts that are known. If is was Garinger, no one would be saying anything.

If you want to continue discussing the transferring issue...fine. But if one wants to make their own "facts" and start slinging mud...this is not the place.

I'm not going to allow this board to be used for a person's personal agenda because they are upset with their own child's playing time or personal dislike of a particular coach or team.

To me, as bad as some of the stories are about illegal transfers, it's worse when you find out a parent waits until the end of the season to "turn in their own team", when they knew or suspected something from the beginning....most times before the coach knows.

Many AD's are getting out of HS sports because they are tired of dealing with cheating parents, unscrupulous back stabbing and parents playing politics with administrators. It's a shame because we are losing some mighty fine people who work their tails off night and day only to find their hard work is underminded by some bitter parent whose only concern is their child....and their playing time.

The parents are the one's that are responsible for their children. They are the example setters. They are the role models. If they are the one's that allow themselves to cheat the system and lie to the coaches, community and school...then they are the one's that should be held totally accountable....and if that accountability is not placed where it should be (the parents), illegal transfers will continue to occur.

    Should not matter

If it Garinger, South Meck, or Butler it should not matter. You can't say if it were someone else it would be different. The south meck team had to deal with it, and others too in the past. The girls on the softball team know each others buisness like no one else, everyone of you on here know that. You just can't convience me that no one knew anything until know. I may have been born at night but it wasn't last night. Anyway good luck to Butler and the rest of the teams in the playoffs. The way I understand it this issue may not matter after Tuesday anyway.
