What kills a freakin game is the pitcher/hitter being a human rain delay. I was a pitcher through high school and college and I always wanted to throw the ball and get back the mound and ready to throw the next pitch as soon as possible. Some kids get up there and make sure their pants are perfect, kick the dirt off of their shoes, make sure their g/f isn't getting hit on, wave to mom and then toe the rubber to throw the third pitch of the game. Then the hitters get out there and take 20 hacks between pitches to make sure their swing is perfect in the box so they can stare at a fastball down the pipe and not swing. Hitters stay out there and try to think of every pitch the pitcher will throw at them and what they will do with it, here's something for them to think about, if you see the ball, hit the freakin ball. To many pitchers and hitters being pre-madonnas(sp?) and worrying about their image instead of playing the freakin game and worrying about everything else after the last out is made. That kind of crap is what kills a game...

May seemed a little harsh but it's been a while since I vented so I figure that would be a good post to vent on. Thank you to whoever started that post...I feel better now.

    Never too long......

Watched A-Sun Conf championship game yesterday - all 15 innings - between Lipscomb and Gardner-Webb.

Unbelievable game - 2 teams playing with everything they had, never giving up, never letting down, all 4.75+ hours of it.

Unfortunately, one of them had to lose, but, WOW, what a game. My hats off to both teams.

(and yes, let's get back to WOOD in college and high school!)

Boy, how wood bats would change the recruiting picture. Some of your big power guys would struggle with the wood. The scrappy contact guys would thrive in a situation where NOBODY will be hitting it 400 feet

Amen, Braves. I have tried to explain to nonbaseball people why I love the 3-2 or 2-1 type games. I just can't get across to them how great it is to watch a game where every single pitch, at-bat, and defensive play matters in the outcome of the game. Those games create heros and goats. And thats the way its supposed to be.

    Too long

Games are too long and the coaches just expect a slug fest, no creating runs and moving runners.

No matter what you use and how you do it. Games are never too long. I could watch baseball all day long. And normally when given the chance I do. I love a 3-2 ball game as much as the next guy. And I love watching wood bats also. But putting wood bats in HS is a stretch. IDK about that one. Maybe in a few years, but right now college should use wooden bats.

    amen

this is the main reason I love high school baseball. It's PURE baseball without all the between inning entertainment.

College games are definitely too long. A four hour game is fine if it's an extra inning nail biter. But these games that end up 16-14 with twenty hits a side aren't good baseball in my book. These college guys need to be using wood bats for sure.

And yes - give me a box score like this every night of the week

    4 6 0 010 100 2
    3 4 0 100 011 0
