    Hey Junkie -

Four games are played by each team at the QDSS over the course of the 2 days. The teams are randomly selected from the athletes accepted into the showcase, with position predetermined at the time of selection/acceptance into the QDSS. Unlike TB or HS ball, to speed up game process all batters have a 1-1 count against them when they step into the batter's box. Additionally, each inning, a runner is put on 2B to display base running skills, offensive strategies, etc.

The selection process is nearly complete this year with the field narrowed down to 30 1B, 28 2B, 40 SS, 30 3B and only 24 total accepted for each position. I have no idea where they are at, as of this moment, on pitchers and catchers. My dd is currently among the 30 3B, the position that she wished to play (as opposed to catcher, her other primary during normal course of play, or 2B/1B/LF her secondaries in normal course of play).

As of last week, the QDSS was still looking for some talented outfielders to apply and requested applicants make recommendations if they knew of anyone.

    QDSS Catchers

My DD was notified that she was selected to be a catcher for the QDSS. I would assume that they have selected everyone that they need by the information that was in the email. I could be wrong also.

Well, ya'll be the judge because who knows? LOL

I have no idea when pitcher/catcher selection was completed. Here is the letter we received (or excepts thereof...):

Date: Tuesday, May 27, 2008 8:44 AM From: hidden [IMG] [IMG] To: hidden Subject: 1B, 2B, 3B, SS Update Size: 13 KB

Just a quick note on you infielders. If you’re getting this email, your chances have increased in getting into the QDSS. We have narrowed the first baseman to 30, the second baseman to 28, the 3rd baseman to 30 and the shortstops to 40. The 3B and SS spots have simply a ton of talent in them In each of these spots, only 24 are selected.

GPA is critically important as I mentioned in my last email. We’ve been told to limit the ’09 grad year players as the University coaches ‘normally’ have their ’09 grad year athletes picked out. If you’re an ’09, know that you most likely are on someone’s radar screen. You’ve got to finish your marketing and don’t stop until you’ve found what you’ve been looking for. I guess what I’m telling you is that a lot of you are pretty even in status and, just as a collegiate coach will do, your GPA MIGHT be the determining factor as to whether you’re selected or not...

We all have felt that the left side infield this year is as talented as any one we’ve seen in the last 16 Showcases. Lots of speedy athletes that can hit!

Later this week we’ll announce the teams, so hold tight and rest easy knowing you’ve made it ‘this far’.

As of Monday, the pitchers had been narrowed down to 100 of the 48 they will accept. No update since then.

If your DD is attending this event, let the College coaches know! Don't just assume Kirk will get all the coaches there! Critical for you and daughter to be aggressive in contacting the schools U wish to pursue and give them all the information on your daughter and as much of a schedule as you can provide.

Just advise, take it or leave it. Good luck to all the young ladies this summer, may the colleges of your choice pursue you with vigor.:N1yeeaah:

My daughter Taylor (Pookie) who plays for Kings Mountain and the Carolina Curve was selected as one of the Short Stops. Cailyn Hughes who plays for Carolina Rally Katz and KMHS was selected as an outfielder. Both were notified Thursday afternoon. WAY TO GO LADIES!

It's been a real exciting process and we are looking forward to the showcase.

My dd and several of her tb team mates (all infielders) were notified yesterday afternoon as well. Our two pitchers were not notified. Does Kirk really talk to your references?
