The references used on the QDS form are for collegiate coaches to follow up with. The QDS staff has been at this for almost 20 years and has quite a lengthy list of ears to the ground that can be used to identify, reinforce, inform and otherwise detail most athletes east of the Mississippi. As well, we know there is an hired staff in which one of their main jobs are to find out about the talents of these athletes. Sometimes they're wrong but assuredly those that are selected are good ones.
After all, who would give a reference that would show them in bad light?

    Fees

If this event does anything for the athletes and their families the process pushes each family/athlete to really work on the business side of these athlete's dreams. Many think that headlines in local newspapers will somehow suddenly cause UNC to say, 'call that family and give her a full ride'! Well, no headlines will ever get a scholarship so this is just 'a' way that a family get some experienced information and end the run-up to the event playing with some awesome players from all over the place, all with the same dream!
Cost for this is $225 in which you have 24/7 attention from how to write your initial letter FAR beyond the QDSS 2008 to when you need to get that assistance in securing your 'deal'.
Great event, surely not a fit for some but surely it is for many.
On Labor Day weekend, what's more fun than watching incredible athletes from a ton of States leaving it all on the field??
Lastly, you pay only when you're selected

Here is my take on the QDSS...

Last year, one of the players from our team attended the QDSS and was subsequently recruited to play at the college level. This past winter, a player attended the QDSN (north showcase) and again received great exposure.

In the years past, I have given umpteen checks to college camps to hone my daughter's skill while allowing her to play with (mostly) players of a caliber equal or higher to hers - which only helps the DD get better. And the subsequent awards that she has brought home from these camps have meant as much to her as the hardware her team brings home, simply for the fact that the merit awards she receives at camps are based solely on her performance instead of that of a group.

The QDSS offers and opportunity for the DD to field with talented players that are different from whom she normally plays with - and not only provides exposure to the college coaches that attend, but aid in continuing her growth as a player, including the very important lesson of learning how to meld, bond and become a team with players she has never met before. Let's face it, when she goes off to college, her peers will not be all accompanying her, so this is a skill that can only help her down the line.

How would mastercard put this? Cost of the showcase: 225.00. Growth as a person and player while receiving exposure to college coaches: Priceless.

Thanks "D".......we have really missed ya'll as well......Beamer talks about ya'll alot, wondering what all is going on.......as well as reminding me (while we are pitching) about things that Angelo and Mike showed her.......

This past Monday, she received an e-mail stating there was a shortage of outfielders, and that the outfielders would be playing every inning of every game, and she said "Daddy, I submitted my application as a pitcher because I knew I was good enough....", and how true she was.......No, I had no doubt...but I have to admit, with over 600 pitchers applying, and only 48 to be selected, I have to say that the numerous bruised shins, hours of sitting on a bucket, hours spent viewing the videos taken while practicing and showing her discrepancies she did on a particular pitch.....have all been worth it. Really hope to see ya'll at Winthrop, who knows, maybe even on the same team!!!!!!
Please relay our congratulations to Sierra on being selected as well!!!!!
