Rose won Ak loss end of discussion! I used that motivational throwing knocking the bats over inthe dugout etc maybe five times in fifteen years worked a couple times didn t a couple of others regardless GAME OVER!!!!!!!!!!!

 

why do we have to stop discussing it?

its a MESSAGE BOARD where things are DISCUSSED. it was the STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS!! lets DISCUSS it!!!

 

#1: The NCHSAA looks at solid venues that are available and they can secure in advance... The Mudcats have been goodpartners for years... So then, if NEBRASKA were to advance to the CWS in Omaha (BTW they were a #1 seed knocked out already),should they move the CWS from Omaha? The NCHSAA does not set up playoff venues thinking certain teams will make it in football, basketball, baseball or other HS sports, any thinking to the contrary is ludicrous!!

#2: Look at the number of schools in each city and its population minus the student populations from area colleges... enough said on that one!!

these people would argue that Rose should have been sent to the unc-g campus to play their games against AK.

 

That would be correct. Lets be clear that players play the game. The number of fans for each team doesnt change the outcome. My point is strictly about the ability for both teams fans to have an equal oppty to make the games.

#1 Omaha spends millions to keep this tournament in its city. NCHSAA only secures venues in the Raleigh area for state championships in all sports. Would be nice to see venues rotate. I believe they play baseball at UNCC,UNCA, UNCP, UNCW etc. as well as many minor league ballparks throughout the state, stadiums (maybe home of the panthers for the football state championship game) etc.

#2 Look at the number of schools ......what??? Point is new schools and population will take from feeder programs. Ask Weddington about this one, most of JV went to Marvin Ridge HS. More schools per mile in Charlotte and Raleigh then in rural area period.

I recommend middle of the state for the venues or rotate throughout state. I believe the venue was not secured till day before 1st game. On a personal level, I would like to see change, secure the sites early if possible as minor league schedules are available for 2009 and not wait on the colleges. Sounds like my 7 year old son would of enjoyed this series and I would of as well.

 

ACtually, the venues are established in advance, the unfortunate thing here for the NCHSAA was NC State hosting a regional. THe sites were originally NC State and Mudcat Stadium. Last time I checked Raleigh was as about as close to the middle of the state as you can get for excellent facilities. If you wanted to use the geographical middle it would be Chatham County. The clsest venue to that would have been Boshamer at UNC but it is being rennovated.

Actually I would be in favor of rotating sites, Charlotte, Wilmington, Greenville, Boone, Greensboro, Asheville, Fayetteville, WInston-SAlem, etc.. all have good facilities capable of hosting the championship.

Heck I would travel to Timbucktoo (sorry to reveal your secret fishin hole Braves) if our team made it that far, for the chance at a ring, as would Coach Bags, RV, or anybody else with the opportunity.

Hypothetically speaking, what if the Championships had been scheduled for UNC-C? Then others could have made the same arguments that have already been made about Raleigh. The way it worked out this year was the way it happened to work itself out, not because it was planned by the NCHSAA.

The NCHSAA has tried to come up with various ideas for years, but securing venues is not as easy as it seems.

To be honest, I think if there was any way for the USA Complex to host All 4 championships, now that would be a way to create a sense of Omaha in NC. What a potential venue!!
