    Why Indeed

". . . why on earth do they always seem to play at the big college fields at the most convenient times?"

This reminds me of the questions about why the coach's son plays more innings or has his pick of positions and the answer is the same. Here's why. Because there are certain prerogatives, certain privileges that go with being the one in charge, the one doing most of the work, the one taking the most crap, the one with the headaches, the one spending his time (and usually his $) making the arrangements, the head guy. Back in rec ball days, I never thought it was unreasonable that the coach put his son in or played him more than the other guys - it's just one of those things that you get to do if you are the person calling the shots. Part of what you get back for all the aggravation and behind the scenes work that no one else knows about (or wants to do). I understand if folks don't like it. But to me it's completely understandable and totally fair.

I've said numerous times on this thread that I don't blame AP for putting his Dirtbag team in front of the scouts at the right times on the big stage.

All I've said, is that since his interests obviously lie w/ the Dirtbag players (as it should, him being their coach), I just dont consider him to be an unbiased observer of North Carolina baseball talent. Any coach who coaches a group of players is going to know the ins and outs of his players, and get a chance to see all of them play well at times.

I'm not questioning what AP does, because if I was him, and I coached a team, and I had a website where I told who I thought the best players were, I'd do the same thing AP does. I'd hype my players as often as possible.

I don't criticize AP for the hyping, I just criticize the people who buy in to all the hype. People need to realize that IMPACT Baseball as a website, is biased towards the Dirtbags. That's all I'm saying.

And my question that was quoted that asked why on earth the Dirtbags always play at convenient times and locations, was not even criticizing AP for putting them at those times and locations. Again, that's expected of a coach.

My sentence where I asked why in the heck they play at these times and locations, was in response to someone who said "it doesnt matter what time they play or where they play, the scouts will come." Well if that's the case, why must they always play at the convenient times then? That's my question.

Exactly, it's not like the college scouts look at the impact list, read a name get a number and call the kid without seeing him play first. A respected man like Andy of course is going to get recognition and have the benefit of the doubt. But just becuase one kid isn't on there doesn't mean that he isn't going to get an equal opportunity. Those kids earned being on the list, just like the kids who aren't have to earn their way into college off baseball or academics or whatever he/she chooses.

So basically, just because one kid isn't on the list doesn't mean he's not going to college or having an equal opportunity. Everyone is on an even playing field. If you coached a team that respected, you would of course see your players more then others and know them better on a deeper level then others, which means you have no choice but to be biased. If the kid is that good he'll get his shot, maybe not the one he wanted or was hoping for, but life isn't fair, he'll just have to deal with it and have something to work harder for.

It would be nice to know. And if a few more would come out too. You closet guys are great. How can anyone follow coach27 and call someone out if they do not give their name. Either way it is: :smiley_beatin_horse:butt::EMOSTdungHL1::dead-horse-fast2::piss2::piss::beatdeadhorse5::crap: Your choice.
