    Why????

    Good info.
I even mentioned that players that may start at a CC or JUCO make it to D-1 level. Guess it is the Carolina Blue illness. Anything said to take away from Carolina is viewed as an attack on a religion. Should have used a team that has won it a few times South Cal or Texas maybe even Wake Forest. We all know if you offer the same carrot you will get a rabbit. The more carrots you have the bigger rabbits you get. Ask Elmer...... oh he never caught a rabbit.

Thank goodness Dallas looks like his mom.....:REDanceFdans002HL:

Was impressed with the way he carries himself and goes after it!! As I stood with Mark and the Elon dads.... Too bad my Hawks rallied!!

Back to the conversation....Excellent points here, nice to see a player go up from D2 to D1 and continue to excel...

    I saw

Dallas play for the first time when I sat with my good friend Coach Evans and watched Elon play UNCW in the Regional at Cary last weekend. Boy was I impressed with him. He is very talented I really enjoyed watching him play the game.

Congrats to the Tar Heels for making it three years in a row to the CWS. What an accomplishment.

    D2 TO D1 TRANSFER

How does a player go about transferring from a D2 school to a D1?

They get a release from their school and re-enter the recruiting process. Many people have mentioned that you don't burn bridges during the recruiting process. Your coach today, may not be your coach tomorrow. Many players have developed relationships with coaches at many schools. If things don't work out at one school they let the other coaches know they are available and the process starts all over. Of course, the landscape has changed with the new transfer rules with D1 schools.

Chris Dove is another Elon player that transferred from a D2 school.

    713,
These are the direct quotes (below) from your recent posts that I found unnecessary. I think you went to far with these 3. Just had to let you know. Did you intend for them to come off so poorly? I think you made some valid points in this thread even though you strayed from D1 vs D2 to ACC/UNC vs D2, but I can't help but think you could/should have avoided the degrading examples below.

UNC playing Mount Olive in baseball is like a guy wrestling a girl. He's almost sure to win, but he has nothing to gain from it, and everything to lose.

Just like the NFL doesn't play against the Arena League and the NBA teams don't play against the Developmental League teams and the Major League teams dont play against the Minor League teams. Teams tend to play teams who are on their own level.

That's what I mean, when I say that they have nothing to gain. I guess you could say that a male wrestler could gain something by wrestling a female too. He might learn to perfect a particular move or might pull off a new escape. But reputation wise, he can't gain anything. Same with UNC vs Mount Olive.

before I get bashed, let me say I was a D1 all american and drafted by the Pirates (1995) 24th rd.

On a DII team, you may have 1-2 guys, maybe the 3-4 hitter, who could start on a legit DI team. Maybe 2 of the pitchers could go legit D1.

Navy?? LOL, they are the worst baseball team in the country (next to Army).

on any given day in baseball, either team can lose. Look at Spring Training, D1 team play MLB squads and win, but if they played 10 games, they'd lose 8-9.

So the Mt Olive vs Navy thing is not really a good comparison. Heck, Providence HS (my alma mater) could wax NC-AT most years.

the bottom line is this: the elite stars of D2 could go be decent players at legit D1 schools. But frankly the worst hitter/pitcher at Navy is not fit for a good D2 squad.

and don't forget the North - South factor. D1 baseball above VA is awful...some Fla and Texas D2 squads would beat them all day.

Aguyyouknow, I stand by all 3 of those statements you quoted me on. I think UNCHeels247 did a nice job of explaining what I meant by UNC having nothing to gain by playing some no namer like Mt Olive. UNC would be criticized for scheduling cupcakes if they pounded Mount Olive, and picked on for losing if they lost to Mount Olive. They have nothing to gain and everything to lose.

I haven't strayed from the topic. My opinion on the original topic is that low level D1 is only slightly better than high level D2. I just like to point out as a sidenote that the top D2 teams in the country can not compete in the high D1 leagues like the ACC. We've all already established that some D1 schools at the bottom of the D1 spectrum aren't as good as some D2 schools at the top of the D2 spectrum
