Just got in from a big weekend of showcase ball. 16 teams at James Madison, Bridgewater College, Eastern Menonite and the local new high school in Harrisonburg Virginia. Lots of talent on the fields this weekend.

    Virginia Aces finished 4-0
North Canes 3-0-1 (tied with Dominion Dragons at 1-1 after 7)
Maryland Select 3-1 (Super team: Lost only to the N Canes)
    Maryland Patriots 3-1

Awesome astro turf infield at JMU made my day....actually the gorgeous hottie working the gate made the whole weekend go by fast.

I was very impressed with the son of Coach Britt at Scotland who pitched 6 great innings for the South Canes 16u and I understand he is only in the 8th grade.

The Augusta Barons (2-2) were leaving after the tournament to go see a Phillies game and a Yankees game and Cooperstown before ending up at the Virginia Tech tournament next weekend. An awesome coach taking these kids on such a trip.

Hopefully others that attended can post some more details on the games cause there were a few stud pitchers.

    Wish I had

    known that you were there.
Great weekend. 16U South Canes ended up splitting 2 and 2 for the weekend. You are right, Curt Britt is an awesome player and a great kid. See big things for him in the future.

    Good Tournament

    I was at JMU..

Good Tournament. I counted 10+ scouts at one game North Hurricanes vs Maryland select. WOW lots of talent on the field in that game. Mike Kent for the North Canes was very impressive.. North Canes have a lot of arms to run out there..

I saw some good teams. Dominion Dragons were solid as well.

Maryland Select Shortstop Blair kid committed to Wake Forest, and the ThirdBaseman Carey committed to Wake Forest. He hit a back side homer out of JMU vs North Canes to tie it in the 5th. Very good game, and Overall I enjoyed the heck out of it.

I thought the umpires did well, and the girl selling tickets was a HOTTIE!! Who in the heck was responsible for that?? HIGH 5 for whoever you are..

    scary minute!

We got back for that one a little after it started. In the first game, slide into second and son got a knee in the ribs. Coach was afraid that he might have done something to a rib, so off we go to find an urgent care that's open. 2 hours or so later, after x rays and a thorough inspection with good news...no break just deep bruising back to the field we go. He ended up coaching 1st for the rest of that game.

I'm glad to read that your son is fine, kooch. I assume he will be ready for the next week?

My son played against him last year in the Babe Ruth state all star tourney. Britt was playing up a year and still was very good. I agree with the bright future assesment.

He should be good to go

at Va Tech. There was another scary incident in our last game against the Va Cavaliers Blue team. Pitcher threw a high, inside fastball that hit the batter in the face. EMT's had to take him to the hospital. We've heard that it broke his cheekbone and did some damage to his eye socket. If anybody knows for sure, how about posting on here. It sure makes you look at the facts...any player is just one pitch away from never playing again at any time.
