I am not associated with any teams in North Carolina but was merely asking a simple question.

Well, Piehole, like catchingheat3 said it would be hard to distinquish just exactly who the best teams are in North Carolina as there are many good teams here. We didn't play in the ASA State Tourney this weekend as we are leaving to go to St. Louis, Missouri in the morning. We do play in North Carolina although we reserve most of our North Carolina playing to the Fall where we don't have to travel so far with school going on. As a matter of fact we played in the ASA Fall State Tournament just this past fall in Winston Salem and won it. We also took our team with only two players that had to play 16U (the rest were legit 14U) and played in the 16U Cardinal Classic last fall and won our pool, playing what I thought was very good competition. We've won some and lost some against good NC teams. I will say that we have won more than we have lost. We like to take our summers while the girls are out of school and travel out of state to see how we measure up against others and we just like playing different teams that we don't normally see. We've faired pretty well playing in many different states. We will be taking our first year 16U team and playing 18U in the Carolina Cardinal Late Summer Showcase and hopefully we will be able to "hold our own" as we have always done against the good competition North Carolina has to offer. I don't know who you are associated with but if you are in St. Louis, Missouri over the 4th or Orlando, Fl. the last week in July by all means, Piehole, look us up. I must say that not to be associated with a North Carolina team you do seem to be pretty interested today making your only four posts since you became a member in 2005. What is the deal, not had much to talk about in past couple of years? Our first five tournaments of the season have all been in different states none being North Carolina and that is just the way it worked out for us. What can I say we just like to go play ball. I hope I have answered your question, Piehole.

Thanks for the explanation. I know the Smokey Mountain Sting are a very good team. I just wondered why they didn't enter the ASA State. I just noticed they weren't there was all. It can sometimes be hard to lose track since there are what seems like an endless amount of organizations and tournaments out there.....I used to read this board but finally decided to start posting....I won't be at either tourney but I will follow the Sting via the Internet. I did go to the NFCA Leadoff Classic this past March in Columbus, GA and saw many former NC travel ball players playing for UNC, NC State, UNCC, Tennessee, and Winthrop. I used to live in Eastern NC.
