I gotta say, this is the most researched and best selection All Observer I've seen in baseball. Kudos to Cliff and the staff for doing the work necessary to come up with deserving players. It was nice to see some names of players that are rarely mentioned or discussed, but certainly deserving.

Just would like to point out an obvious mistake. As much as Jack Leggett would like to get Jimmy Messer...it ain't going to happen. Jimmy Messer- UNC

Good job Cliff, somebody did his homework. On behalf of all the players that did their part on the field, thank you for covering them.

Looked like great selections. I'd disagree on PoY award though. I think Robbie Ijames of Salisbury HS playing a tough position (SS) put up some amazing numbers should have won it. But things like PoY are always something that everyone usually disagrees about. And gives them something to talk about.

Ijames is a good player, but put up his numbers against not nearly tough as competition as Darnell faced. I'd take Justin Roland at SS over Ijames anyday.

Don't know about Darnell but I doubt the competition was any tougher really. And as far as Roland over Ijames, well, the county they play in saw it differently:

You are kidding about Darnell aren't you? Ijames played one position on Salisbury a 2A team with a 16-8 record. The comp Darnell faced was the best in the state every week in the SW4A plus N Meck twice, Watauga, Olympic and North Davidson. I'm sure he is an outstanding player, but there is no comparison.

Darnell's talents goes much further than just his skills. The kid is an absolute leader...on the field and in the dugout. I've always admired Jordan's physical talents, but his competitiveness and sheer will to win is what makes him standout.

He and Jimmy Messer are the two players I would enjoy paying to watch on the mound.

Its hard to say whos better...

If your basing somthing on hear say or assumptions aobut quality of competion both are obviously great baseball players, I think its hard to say that Darnell is THAT much better based on the fact he played better teams.Best thing to do is give both players credit on a quality year and be done with it. If what you did yesterday is news today then your not doing much today are you?
