    One team had won six straight, and the other seven. Something had to give. It did, in a big way.

    Led by John Wooten's six RBI, including a three-run homer, Wayne County Post 11 stormed to a 17-7 win over Garner Post 232 Wednesdy night at Garner High School in a game pitting Area I East and West teams.

    Wayne (13-3) will face another Triangle team tonight when it hosts Durham Post 7.

    Durham once again gets a great effort on the mound, but kicks the ball around defensively giving up 6 unearned. Durham improves to 11-8 overall and is 5-2 in conference.

    Durham is at Wayne County (Southern Wayne High) Thursday night 7/3 @ 7pm.

    A lackadasical Rowan bunch scuffles and a couple of good defensive plays by South including bringing a Trey Holmes would have been two run homerun back in the park leads to a meaningless win or loss which ever way you look at it. South hit 3 homeruns on the night to aid their cause and Rowan could not capitalize when they did get runners on base. South jumped on top 7-0 and Rowan got good relief pitching from Zack Simpson and Parker Gobbel. Both teams have clinched their spots in the Area III playoffs which start Monday. South will host Concord at home and Rowan will host their "friends" from Mocksville. Rowan will host the 2nd annual Area III All Star game on Saturday.
