My kid went to Colorado with a team and played 3 inning and 1 out. It cost me $700.00 an inning when I was told everyone would have plenty of playing time. While I understand a coach wanting to take a few extra players for ball of this magnitude, I don't understand taking 16 or 18 players. I won't do that again!

    Player Rosters....

Now, this is an interesting twist....
I would be livid if I paid that much money and my kid only played 3 innings and 1 out. It would seem appropriate that the coach only take the amount of players that he/she knows they can play a lot.

However, from the coach's perspective, when players find other things to do during the summer....vacations, other commitments, etc.....how can you blame the coach for bringing on more players to make sure that the team can field a solid, competitive team?

How do the coaches handle THAT situation?

I would be upset about that too but don't know the entire situation. Do they normally have that many girls on the roster?

IMHO, if you take that many girls to a tournament that costs that much, you should make sure they all get equal playing time. If you don't intend to play them unless there is an injury (which you probably already know), let them know...

That is a reflection on an unprofessional or dishonest coach and not a reflection on Showcase Ball in general.

If your daughter wasnt going to get more playing time than that then you should have been told up front.(dishonest part)

If the coach felt your daughter wasnt up to the task(I'm not saying she was or wasnt) then he should have told her(or you) why she wasnt getting playing time. A lack of playing time should not be a mystery and it is a coaches duty to tell a player why they are not getting it.(unprofessional part)

    Know

Before you start calling anyone unprofessional and dishonest, U need to make sure you know the facts from both sides, conversations that took place before, during and after said tournament, e-mails, correspondence, phone calls, all those little things that you do not know here. In all my years in softball and business, I have learned not to accuse people of things unless you truly know the "WHOLE STORY"! Always two sides, get them then you can call people names if you so choose.

My comment was not directed at anyone in particular but only a comment about this type of situation in general as it applies across the board... I thought it was well qualified. I hope you can see that it was about defending Showcase ball and not about this guys coach in particular(I have no idea who it is) So in general, based on how it was presented, how was my comment incorrect?

There were player on this team that showed up late for warm ups and player that threw gloves down the the dugout but played every game. One player played every inning and think she is a 08 and signed. So please tell me what it is all about. I am confused. All player would get plenty of playing time was what was said ! I did not approach a coach at the tournment so i do disgree what happen with other.
