New Bern does not have the pitching to beat either one of those teams in a five-game series.

New Bern's "lack of pitching" probably contributed, in a significat way, to their sweep of Wayne County during the regular season, on the other hand, it probably will not matter, as Wayne County has "little" for Pitt anyway...or maybe they will just "play the game" and see.

New Bern also finished two games ahead of Wayne County in the standings last season, and we saw what happened once the rubber hit the road.

A Legion "season" is too short to be drawing much in the way of conclusions. I am saying that in the long run NB does not stack up with those two teams.

Pitt does not have an Alex White, and we don't have a Garrett Davis. It will be an interesting series.

Heve fun in Edenton. Spend some time by the river. It's a scenic site.

What Wwe all saw what happened when new bern lost home field advantage to the 'whatever they are called" cpl team who is no longer in new bern, but since everyone on this board is impartial it really doesn't matter now as much as who gets to say 'see, I told you so" after it is all over....and since Wayne County has a birthright to the state tournament, maybe the powers that be should reimburse them for thier expenses from last year like the other "favored darlings" from area four. Indeed all is not equal, never has been, never will be.

Ah, the River Rats. I knew them well. Gary just needs to get a better deal from NBHS.

Birthright? We've been to four of eight. And I guess I know what other "darlings" you're talking about. Maybe they're the ones who scheduled us to play three straight days in 100-plus degree heat.

I am not surprised that NB swept RM. That side of the league has the two worst programs. I also don't know how many of RM's travel ball players participated.

Quit making excuses and blaming coaches!

Why is there a need to make excuses for a group of high school baseball players. Of course it is the coach's fault. It always is! That is all I heard the whole high school season on the way to a 9-15 season. Let me remind you that Landon Adams is a Garner resident and so is Sean Willingham. I believe that makes 5 plus Cory Adams quit after one game so now we're up to six, which is a lot more than they had on the team last year. I guess if we had more Garner players, we would not have loss 20-3. Quit making excuses and quit blaming it on the coaches. 1/3 of the legion team was Garner "residents." I commend your loyalty to Garner, but at some point I'd take a good hard look at reality. Maybe Cary was just that much better. Why take anything away from them and make excuses for a group of high school baseball players. Don't the parents make enough of those. How many legion games did you go to?

wow, someone got up on the wrong side of the keyboard....yep, my fault for not attending more games and advertising your team. I'll try and do better next year.

Those are the worst pitching numbers for a Wayne County team with a winning record since the early 1990's. This team is 16-4 because of the offense and occasional decent performances by the pitchers.

We lost 90 percent of our pitching. The good news is that we retain that number for 2009. They've been better of late.

I personally have been to every one of Garner's games this summer and they quit on a coach who they didn't care for and a coach who would put down players in the dugout just to make him look good. When your a coach you have to make the game fun for the players because when you do that you will have a team who will play until the last out instead of the last out in the first inning
