After watching the CVS play in ASA state championship, my impression was that this team is on a mission. Taylor and Shaina are a deadly combination. They work very well together with Shaina calling the pitches and Taylor hitting the spots with a combination of pitches. I talked to Taylor and Shaina, and several other players and parents at the ASA tournament. Great group. Job well done Shane.

    CV Storm

    Thanks Comet Fan!
The Storm is blessesd with five great pitchers.
    Mariah "Mo" Chalk
    Krissy Kendrick
    Heather Nellis
    Taylor Shelton
    Julia Wakefield

They all bring something different to circle, without egos and jealousy. Shane and JJ did a great job of keeping the batters off balance. Once they started to get a feel or timing on a pitcher we just reloaded. Our hitters came up big this weekend as well. (Natalie Drum has a big HR against the Rage) The defense was awesome!

This Storm team is a special group of girls!

We have yet to determine the winner of the 60' dash between Taylor and Hannah...lol

You will probably have to set up a lazer to do that. I am going to try and get over to Foard, Linclonton, Freedom and some of the other schools to my west and see these girls play HS ball next spring.

I never saw the Hornets, but they beat Ocala Gold in the semi's. Ocala is the best team we've ever played (lots of JUCO's). The Hornets must be good! That ball tournament is what it's all about!

Won final pool play game Friday afternoon 10-2. Charlotte Cobras finished pool play 4-0.

Lost first bracket game v. Knoxville Thunder 2-1 in the international tiebreaker. Just to clarify, there were three Knoxville Thunder teams there, we played their "maroon or best squad of the three."

It was a heart breaker and as a coach I feel like we got the short end of that stick twice. There was time left moving into the 7th inning (about 30 seconds) and we should have played a normal 7th, but the umpire forced both teams into the international tie breaker because he was ready to go home. A team playing on the field next to us had the same thing happen and they played it out they way we should have. Not to mention we were the 8:30pm game, no one following us. We had zero time to prepare the kids between innings for what was happening because we thought we were playing it out normal until our batter came up and the umpire informed us otherwise (we were visitor and no strategy was discussed). Regardless, we lost on a play at the plate the next half inning. Our SS, Ashton Williams, made an outstanding back handed grad to pick the runner off at thrid base and forced her into a rundown. She popped the ball to the catcher, Liz Dyer, who blocked the girl off the plate & clearly had the ball. The runner was a sitting duck and the blue called her safe and could not even justify why he called her safe. He never said the catcher dropped it or anything, he just said that was his call. What a way to end such an awesome weekend for our kids. It was a heart breaker for them, but it is what it is. I believe the team we played had 4-5 signed kids. We are very proud of them and they played great. Overall the team hit well & had four HR's out this weekend and played very good defense on the whole. These kids are a lot of fun to watch and coach. Keep an eye on them, they are earning their respect! They got lots of college attention this weekend as well.

I got a chance to see the Hornets play the Knoxville Thunder Maroon in pool play. The Hornets hit 4 or 5 homers in that game...I believe the Thunder had a couple. The Hornets are a great hitting team!

The Charlotte Cobras did look very good this weekend. Sorry about the tough loss. We had one player hit 2 home runs. It was good to see the fences at normal depth, although one of ours went about 230+.
