Chad Flack has a tough decision in front of him. The senior third baseman from Forest City, N.C. faces the option of pursuing one of two dreams – professional baseball player or college coach.

With his talent I would have to at least give MLB a shot. They'll be other jobs.

    Take the job.

With a shoulder problem it will not last in the MLB. Will suffer in the minors and get a lesser position at a lower D-1 or less if he gets that after ball. If he was healthy go MLB then hope for a job. To get to coach at a major D-1 is a lot to turn down. Just look at what he could get at that job entry level. What am I saying go MLB and get a job with ABC after. Right.....

Its up to him to decide

I am sure he will do what his heart leads him to do. But for me I say go for it and give it a shot you never know what will happen. You can always come back to coaching when your playing days are done. You will not always have the chance to pursue your dream of playing at the professional level. Regardless whatever he decides to do I will be pulling for him.

    Had been previously...

I realize that Chad did not have his best season as a Sr. However scouts do not base decisions on one game or one season, so that is why I could not believe he was not drafted at all this year. However I did not know about the injury. You can bet the farm that the scouts new about it. It makes sense now, nobody is excited about taking a chance and spending $ on damaged goods, been there. A healthy Chad Flack is definitely a prospect, period. My suggestion would be to talk with several doctors, get a good feel for the prospect of a full athletic performance recovery, pray about it, and then follow your heart, and have no regrets. GOD Speed!

anybody who has a chance to continue playing should. If Flack is being offered an invite to spring training then he should take it. He can always be a student assistant for the heels after a few months of minor league experience.

In the long term, a coach with a pro background, even just a short stint, will open doors for him later. There is a line among college coaches. you either have that background or you don't. Nobody cares what your story was ten years down road. How long, etc.
