Showcase at the Beach

    The Dynamic Baseball 20 team Battle at Virginia Beach sure was fun this past weekend. The South Canes and the Steel City Wildcats of Pittsburgh totally dominated the competition. The Canes scored 34 runs winning 4 games while the Cats only gave up 4 runs also going undefeated.

    The hospitality afforded the umpires at Norfolk State University was really really first class. A bunch of nice coaches, field crew and concession ladies.

    Brian Burgess of the North Canes had a lot of pop in his bat this weekend.

    The Wilson Bulldogs finished 2nd in their pool in their first taste of big time showcase ball as they beat the Terminators and Wildcat Baseball. Go dogs!

    Jack Lane was bringing the heat and a wicked curve for the Fungo Red Sox against a very good hitting Dominion Dragon team.

    The 16u Canes played outstanding winning 3 games and only lost to Steel City.

    Christopher Newport is a beautiful place with some real friendly coaches.

    The best part of the weekend was the food at Wild Wings and the Outback.

    I think the head coach at Norfolk State used to coach with Coach 27 at South Granville. They also have player who played 2 seasons at SG before moving to Va.

    A great time!

    Had a super time this weekend at the Beach! Our South 16u Canes played great baseball all weekend. And yes I will say it...the officials did a great job in every game that I saw. We saw one of the umpires have a problem with the heat on Saturday. Is he doing okay?

    Congrats to the younger Canes

    Yes he is fine but he had a stomach virus that really knocked him out for the rest of that day. Luckily this is the first time in 2 years that we decided to bring a rotating sub umpire in case of the heat and the sub got to work all the games he wanted including one of the semi final games.

    great tournament,

    great venues and until sun. afternoon great weather.I thought as well as others that the umpiring was the best and most consistant we"ve seen.Good w/e of baseball!
