    We've been blessed here with lots of tournaments that we can drive to and from each day. Spartanburg and Anderson both have several tournaments each summer. Round trip cost for gas to either: $15 x 3 days. Gate fees for family: $35/weekend. Drinks/snowcones/boiled peanuts for little sister: $10/weekend. Eating out more than I would if home: $50 /weekend.

    $140 per weekend x 3 tournaments -> $420.

    One tournament at home -> $100.

    One tournament at Lexington (roundtrip gas: $45 x 3) -> $230

    Trip to Myrtle Beach: Gas: $100, Hotel: $300, Food: $250, No gate fees -> $650

    So: $1400. (Dang, I wish I hadn't just added that up).

    Plus the team fee, gas to practices, bats, cleats, and all that incidental stuff.

    Headed to Nationals in Midland,Tx.Check this out:
    3 plane tickets $574.00 per person
    Rental car $340.00 my half
    hotel 9 nights $150.00 per night
    Not counting meals and other expenses.I refuse to add it all up,it's just too painful.Sponsorship helps a bunch,you have to get out there and beat the bushes.Ask any business you can think of,the worst they can do is say no.Every once in a while you get lucky and find someone with a big heart willing to help.It is a once in a lifetime chance for my DD,who knows if she'll get another chance.After all,she's the only one I've got and she's worth it!Besides a 2nd job on the weekend does'nt sound too bad,maybe I can sell a kidney you only need 1........:cry::bigcry::yikes:

    Don't know...

    ...don't care to know. As long as my DDs are having fun doing what they love I will figure out a way to make it happen for them. Will worry about far in the hole we are after my DDs are done playing ball and more importantly graduated from college.

    Like others have posted before, very few kids can just go to school and stay interested. Most of them need something else to do and/or look forward to. For my DDs, it is softball so we will do what we gotta do as long as the end result is they made a bunch of life long friends and got a good edumication!

    ...good estimate and I'll add...

    ....the expense of $300 bats, tourn. tshirts, gate fees, parking fees,.....DOCTORS BILLS! ....and the yearly "big" trip to Fla. etc. you know the 10 day, everyone in the family going on vacation for ball.....I figure my cost would be 3-4K just for the 'big" trip.
    Adding Dukes very reasonable estimate, to my variable type stuff, its easy to spend 7-10K.

    And its worth every dime!!!

    ....oh I forgot camps, hitting lessons, pitching lessons, unsold fundraising stuff that we fork out $ from our own pockets......

    :REGamblMoney01HL2:Maybe because they don't care how much it cost. It's hubby's money that is being spent on expenses. They have their own stash ready for shopping;)
