My first pair of steel cleats had the cleats attached to a leather sole. flat leather along the bottom. Most uncomfortable on hard ground. What a sight we were back then... Yellow Gold pants, same color jersey, high navy stirrups with gold sanitaries, and those pillbox caps I mentioned earlier. Man we thought we were pros!!

    Man, the good ole days!!

Another memory... what about the old mill town semi pro leagues. Some great players played for the cotton mill teams back in the late 60's and early 70's! Can remember watching the last few games of that era... Just a baby then...

Coach forbade it, black shoes could have white stripes but white shoes could not be painted school colors. I can hear him now- what are you hippies painting your shoes, next thing you know you will be wearing tie dye undershirts. LOL

Only Nolan Ryan and JR Richards could make those things look presentable.

Believe it or not, the Minister of my church thought it would be cool to have those tops for our church league softball team back in the '80's. With orange numerals no less. We were the laughing stock of the league that fall lol. That monstrosity is in the closet now and looks just as bad 20+ years later.

Aah, the old softball days. One of my teams decided to call themselves the JAMS, so we wore numbered hawaiian shirts and jam shorts as uniforms. Individually, looked cool. As a group, kinda gay looking (not meant as a politically incorrect statement if there are any gay softball players offended.)
