Rowan advances to play Randolph at 7:30 on Thursday. Zack Simpson pitched 4 good innings of baseball and then had to come out in the 5th inning. Relievers Matt "Bulldog" Hall and Trey Holmes were good in relief. Micah Jarrett had two hits and a walk on the night driving in some clutch two out hits for RC. Russell Michalec launced a solo homer to left to give Rowan a 6-3 lead in the 6th. Philip Miclat also had a key double (advanced to third on the throw) to put Rowan on the board early against Hope Mill's ace. Good game tonight, a couple nice defensive plays by Rowan and Simpson pitched out of a few jams early. Matt Hall had a nice defensive play to get an out with bases loaded and one out in the 5th. The batter hit a squibbler and Hall's only play was at the plate and he made a nice scoop to the catcher Austin Shull for the big out. The DH for Hope Mill's # 59 I believe hit a shot over the left field wall to cut Rowan's lead to 7-4, but that was it for the scoring and Rowan held on for the big victory. I would say these two teams tomorrow know a little about each other in Post 45 and Post 342. They have played 7 times this year. Randolph has had Rowan's number of late but well see what happens Thursday night. I'm just glad that we've got two Area III teams that are still unbeaten. Says a lot about the Area for this year and it's depth. Russell Michalec should get the start for Rowan.

Sorry if my facts aren't always straight, it is getting pretty late

west boy good post but I believe that Matt Hall will pick up the win. Simpson didn't last the required five innings to get a win. Also the score ended up 3 -3 after the inning he came out. On the play were Hall made the great play at the plate, Hope Mills had the squeeze play on. It was well executed by Hope Mills just a better play by Rowan. congrats to Tre Britt he pitched a good game even though he suffered his first lose of the season.

I also believe that the Rowan plays Randolph at 7:30 on Thursday
    Cherryville plays Gastonia at 12:30
Hope Mills plays Clayton at 4:30

Wow, what a day 2? First off, great to see some of you posters at the ballpark, biggest crowd of the day definitely went to 430 game (Cherryville/Randolph).

Randolph County can simply hit the ball, period. They did that the whole Area 3 final series. Not surprised there. But I was surprised at the margin of their game with Cherryville, although this tournament aint over.

Sorry I missed RaleighDevil and a few others.

Well as you know in baseball sometimes you hit it and sometimes you get hit. Randolph played well and seemed to be in the right place at the right time for every threat Cherryville had. Cherryville left the bases loaded early and two on in the next inning or so that could have changed the game. As you know it is not to easy to come back from trailing but once you get the bats going and things start rolling your way........ Bottom line is we got beat by a good baseball team. We just can not loose another one this week or it is over for the year. Go gettem Post 100...

And you wonder why people jumped on you- that statement says it all. Remember, these players are not kids, but they're not professionals either. You come across as a bitter, middle aged 'never was' man who takes pleasure in pointing out player's weaknesses.
I'm sorry you didn't play past little league, but don't take it out on 17-19 year olds that you're completely jealous of.

    HOMEMADE ICE CREAM

For those who haven't been to the state tournament yet and plan to get there before its over, or those who have been and not tried this yet, go behind the 3rd base dugout and get some of the homemade ice cream. Peach, cherry, vanilla and something else,,,, I can't remember the man's name, but it is wonderful.

    ... I can vouch for the peach.:4:

If it's Tony's Icecream, do yourself a favor and check out the Tony's restaurant on Franklin Blvd while you're in town.
