Title 9?? When are they going to require face masks on baseball batting helmets? Its one of the best things they ever did for fastpitch.

ASA is sitting back right now and seeing how it goes with the HS trying metal. I do not see a reason for them not to wear metal cleats, the most common injury with metal cleats is the player spiking themselves. It sure makes traction easier, an example is the SS going backhand in the 5-6 hole can really just plant and throw, with plastic she may have to shuffle out of the backhand to make a good hard throw. I know the girls I work with love the metal cleats, and if you say metal cleats are OK then it still allows the girls who want to wear the plastic cleats they can.

    Will know later this year...

Both DDs have always used rubber. Older DD is going to college and will be using metal for the first time so will see what she thinks...

ok i would personally love to have metal cleat for ASA ball bc i really do get a better grip, and it helps me in many ways. the only problem i see is people getting hurt, but those who play this sport know the dangers that already exists so if u cant take the heat get off the field.

    Whats the deal?.....

....hey ADD, thanks for you post. TBR is happy to hear from the players on the field.
I know you're cool with metal and I like your spunk, so I'll ask you this,...
what do the kids who you're around playing everyday think about wearing metal cleats? Fish.

played in MB this weekend, playing on Fri PM, girl slid into 2nd on a hard steal, sent the SS (?) for the opposing team to the hospital for 8 stiches in the leg. Totally faultless play, hard efforts from both teams but still hate to see anyone get hurt.

From just listening around the fields, no concensus between wanting, not wanting metal from the girls, same as anything with a bunch of teenage girls, some do, some don't.

    I loved them..

I used metal cleats for the first time this past high school season, and when I first put them on they felt weird, but I got used to them almost instantly. I absolutely loved them. I felt like I actually moved quicker with them, and it was much easier on the bunt play because on some hard fields where you slide right past the ball with rubber cleats.
