    I am sure I can speak for all of us at Watauga High School in offering our
    prayers to the family of Matt Gfeller. May God be with you at this time
    and with Matt's team and Coaches. With deepest sympathy.

    This was a player at RJ Reynolds, Winston-Salem who sufferd a brain injury in last nights game against Page. His was a soph lineman #57.

    Horrible thing.

    I read on another site he lapsed into a comma and later had emergency surgery. I also read he passed away then read somewhere else he was still alive.

    I hope the later is the case and definitely send thoughts and prayers out to his family.

    WXII reported this morning that Matt Gfeller was taken off life support and has passed away.

    This is a terrible way to begin the school year. My most sincere thoughts and prayers go out to the Gfeller family, his friends, players, staff and students of R.J. Reynolds and as well as at Page.
