    Half empty

Ours left his sister. She has already picked out new colors for his (old) room. :trampoline: His was a little different move. He went to summer session.:REGamblMoney01HL2: Six weeks this summer. Plus and minus. Lost the summer ball season. Will be trying to walk on. Plus has 7 credit hours and a positive GPA going into the fall.:book2: Was halfway moved in and was able to choose a roommate that he went to summer session with before freshman move in. :REDanceBanana011: Mom is still calling about three times a week.:REGamblMoney01HL2: Our plus and minus. Water, electric and grocery bill has been cut in half. :REGamblMoney01HL2:No ball games to go see our son play in... yet. We have one of his best buddies that grads 09 that stops by and we can go see play.

Well...my brother and I both left last Friday. So now mom and dad have the house to themselves. Mom is coaching volleyball, so if dad wants to see mom he is going to get to watch a lot of volleyball. And how did mom and dad celebrate their kids leaving for college??? The went to Bristol, Tenn. for the race last night.

    Nest not empty but roomier........

Like Plate Dad, mine attended summer school to get a headstart, so we kind of got used to him being gone, but I still miss him terribly. Don't have after work baseball to look forward to, my arm is excited, but my heart isn't.

The great news is he loves it and seems to be doing well, added 20lbs of weight from workouts and looked completely different when he came home in between summer school and fall. As of yet, Laundry doesn't seem to be his forte, but he is a natural at debit card use.

I still have my wonderful daughter at home, but as hard as I try, she just won't give baseball a shot, not even softball anymore. Cross Country, Track and volleyball are her things and I am adjusting. I just can't figure out who I am supposed to argue balls and strikes with during her meets! :cussing:

My oldest, Nick, is a junior but he lived at home the 1st 2 years because he was going to school here at BRCC in town. We miss him but I think my wife was ready to kill him off so it was time to go.

We didn't cry when we left him at Brevard college but it is only 30 miles from home. I'm just glad all the "junk" you go thru getting ready to go is over. It was nice Saturday morning moving him onto such a nice campus and he got a nice room. He was ready for us to just drop him at the curb and leave but we were not that easy to get rid of. Mama had to make his bed and clean up his room. I think she was even going to arrange his underwear drawer but he drew the line there.

We and another Dad had lunch with him and 4 other baseball players we know there and then we had to leave. He was almost asleep on his bed when we left so I guess he was feeling at home.

Our 8 year old "Baby Nate" cried Saturday night and said he wanted Nick and every time I saw head lights coming thru the neighborhood I would look to see if it was Nick.

They grow up so fast. I can't imagine how much harder this would have been when he was a freshman so I feel for the Moms and Dads out there who had to send their babies off.

Mine left last year... and hasn't come back!

The Gman headed out this time last year and except for fall break, Thanksgiving, Christmas. two days between spring and summer seasons and one week before he went back for this fall, Ive been abandoned to swim alone in a sea of estrogen! Even our two dogs are of the female persuasion...
When we went back this fall he moved into an apartment with one of the guys from last years team who is now a grad assistant. The apartment looked like there had been a fairly rousing party held there in the resent past. My prodigy walked in and said "I'm home!" Needless to say the word "STUDY" was mentioned several times before we left!
For you "first time" Dads, I know it can be tough. For those of you that will be able to catch a good number of your sons games in the spring, it won't be too bad. But, if you are like me and your kid is 4-5 hours away, it will be a somewhat difficult transition.
The fact is it is time for them to go. We all raised them to fly... and they can't do that until the leave the nest!
