    huh

but to leave a perfectly good pair of cleats in China???? wonder if they eventually got tossed in a trash can? or maybe the China players could use 'em .

heck they were probably "made in China", so they probably just went full circle. what goes around, comes around.

    doubt it

The way everything has been handled so far over there, I am betting those cleats ended up in an IOC member's hands to go into a "hall of fame or museum for the Olympics" or somewhere similar. Otherwise they will end up in a speacial place in China or be brought back to the Softball Hall of Fame here. Those cleats are worth something to the history of the sport and combining that with the biggest upset to be pulled off to date along with the sport going away for at least now, well there is just no way those cleats ended up in the trash somewhere.

    Should have been...

The cleats should have been auctioned off for a good cause, or like someone said should have been put in the Softball Hall of Fame!

Yeah, if they took out every sport that was dominated by some country, there wouldn't be a lot of sports left in the Olympics. Right off the top of my head, swimming would have to go, Diving would have to go, most track & field events would have to go and so on!
I actually heard one interview with the President of the IOC and he said that softball was being removed in part, due to their association/connection to baseball and that MLB baseball has way too many druging instances! Oh yeah that is fair! NOT

Softball was not removed from the Olympics because the USA was so dominant. It was linked to Baseball and in the confusion of the vote, the Olympic committee voted out Softball with Baseball thinking the two were the same.

They were unhappy that the best baseball players were not allowed to play at the Olympics(MLB ruling) and they decided that if they were not going to play the best baseball players, then they may as well not have baseball in the games. Softball got swept in with baseball in that vote.

The balance of women vs men sports is off and with that in mind I believe that softball will be back in 2016.

The Olympics should represent the pinnacle of each sport that is represented there. It is for softball, it is for swimming and most of the sports that are there. I think Men's Soccer should be removed if Baseball is removed.

    & tennis

and tennis should be removed. Their pinnacle is Wimbleton, US Open, Australian, etc.

    Might as well...

If they are going to make BMX an Olympic sport they might as well add Nascar!
