Former Foothills Phantoms Aaron King and Dustin Harrington have had huge years.
After a season with the Surry Knights, King was drafted by the San Francisco Giants. He had a great year in the Arizona League.
Harrington won the starting ss job for the ECU Pirates early in the 08 season and was one on Conference USA's top rookies.
Both players were members of the Phantoms as 14 and 15 year olds.

Great job guys and keep working hard. We are very proud of you.

That is great news. Despite what anybody says, I always have known that Dustin is a special player.

    thanks to the captain

Hey Captain! Thanks for the Kudos for both boys. Yes BOTH Dustin and Aaron had tremendous seasons. It is great for both boys, and I know for a fact the King has grown tremendously, both in baseball and in strength, agility and mind. Dustin and Aaron are both GREAT kids and I feel like it is a great shame that not one person had a reply besides Braves.
Seems like we only hear of the great strides others have taken-----no interest in the "little People".
thanks to you again for your kind words. Aaron heads back to Arizona next week for Instructionals with another player from the area. Aaron is pumped to go and learn more of this big major league world! He is also very excited to see the guys he has already made bonds with and to meet others he hasn't.
Dustin if you see this have another GREAT SEASON!

Not to worry Febreeze. As soon as these two former Phantoms hit the big time, there will be plenty of interest on this board as well as professional bandwagoneers flocking to you. People like us do't get to sit at the cool lunch table but that doesn't mean we are not proud of our kids and their accomplishments.
I am not sure what Braves means when he says " Regardless of what others say..."regarding Harrington.
Who are these "others" and what are they saying? I have been around for a long time and have seen about all of the Can't Miss-ers in this age group. For my money, Dustin Harrington is as good as anyone I ever saw. I can't imagine anyone thinking he's anything but the total stud of a player and good person that he is.
However, I am sure you will recall that the Phantoms were never held in high regard and never seen as capable players but several of them had stellar high school careers and some are still playing at the next level with one, Aaron King now a Professional. I am sure a few more will follow and some of us will not be surprised.

Let me see if I can explain that. When Dustin was attending AC and they had a big game against Butler I, intentionally, riled up the AC folks by calling Dustin, Dusty. And saying that Butler has faced many Harrington's during the season.

Although most from AC (at least on this board) knew what I was doing, I received some hateful PM's from new AC supporters whose only reason for signing up was to cuss me out.

I knew how good Dustin was and Comer knew what I was doing, hence my reply, "Despite what some may think.....I know D is outstanding"

    Now you know.

Congrats to both these young men

I got the chance to coach Aaron the summer before he left for Surry CC. What a pleasure it was to not only coach him but to get the chance to hang out with him for a week at East Cobb. Aaron has so much upside its ridiculous. He is a very talented young man. And Aaron is a blast to be around. Dustin is extremely talented and he had a great freshman year for ECU. Congrats to both of these young men.
