The truth is we just don't get many posters from the Hickory area. Red Bear was excellent, but his son has moved on. Wil Boyd's dad was very good in keeping us informed, but.....

For some reason, South Caldwell's supporters loved getting on TBR. So much so I had to make a trip to see what everyone was talking about. I ended up getting to know the players and families, so I spoke about them. I find myself doing the same thing with Watauga. Great kids, great families, great coach. So I talk about them.

I would have loved to meet and get to know Aaron and all the players in that area. I just hope we can attract some more members from the Catawba Valley area, so we can get a ton of great feedback.

There is nothing that pleases me more than hear a new name or of a player that hasn't received much deserving attention. But for me, personally, I can only speak about the players I have seen and I certainly haven't seen as many as I like----fact is each year I see less and less because I attend very few showcase tournaments. I'm hoping this will change in the future

I got to see Arron pitch this past season against Blue Ridge CC. BRCC won all but 1 game that weekend. Guess which game they lost. It was the one he pitched. At the time BRCC was tearing the cover off the ball and it didn't matter who you put on the mound... lefty, righty, speed or junk we were just in the zone. The 1st game we won like 11-1 I think and my son had a good game. He didn't play the 2nd game and after game I said something about the bats going cold. He said something like "did you see what that King guy was throwing"? I said yes why? He said that was some of the nastiest pitching I've seen. It was evident by the look on the batter's faces. They had some ugly swings. Then in game 3 we started right back hitting again so it was pretty clear this King kid was just dominant.

Congrats to him and his family. I may have seen him pitch for the Phantoms back when because my son played for the Tri-County Tornados and the Forest City Thunder. We had some good games with those guys. I remember that every time we played them they got better and better.

I hope to see him pitch on TV soon.

More Phantoms at the next level-UPDATE

Congratulations to former Phantom Ryan Hasson who is continuing his baseball career at Wilkes Community College. Way to go Chili!
Ryan's father Mike, is one of the finest people anyone could ever be around. In today's me first, its all about my kid dynamic in todays baseball enviroment, Mike Hasson loves, supports all of the kids that ever played for him and follows them to this day. He was instrumental in the development of a bunch of kids and the fact that they are continuing to play is a great legacy to his commitment to doing it the right way.
It's great that Ryan is getting his shot.
Also, Mike reports that Ryan has re-joined former Phantom teammates, Daniel Hall as well as Tori Conley At WCC. Great to hear TC is back in action.
Best of luck to these 3 young men.

Another nickname that stuck with Ryan was "Stump".
Funny now that he is neither short or slow of foot but still he's STUMP.

    Exactly

When its all said and done thats what we will all remember the most and what will make us always smile when we think back. I think its important to have fun. The parents get all caught up in everything but having fun. The players sometimes end up doing the same thing. Yes we want to compete and we want to win. And of course we want to see them all be the best they can be. But man , its still just a game and it has to be fun. Those memories are awesome.

I just wish I could have coached Aaron King at the same time I had Chris Luck. I have never met two guys so much alike in my life. I probaly would have ended up in the nut house but man it sure would have never been boring! :talker:

Oh coach27 live my life! nuthouse baseball nuthouse baseball. I remember every little thing BOTH my sons do......ie My Youngest Hunter, playing travel ball at age 10. Playing SS went to get throw from catcher, fell over 2nd base like he didn't know it was there and I will be darned if he didn't get up, throw back to the pitcher and trip OVER 2nd base again and just sat there and shook his head WHILE EVERYONE LAUGHED AND GOT A BIG KICK OUT OF IT. MEMORIES YOU NEVER FORGET! and gees I have couple seasons to go with the younger one who is looking more and more like the right side of his Big Bro! SUCH FUN WOULD HAVE NEVER MISSED IT AND LOVE EVERY MINUTE OF IT!
