You hit it, there are so many travel teams that it has become an expensive rec league where U travel all over NC and SC to play most of same teams. We try to play other areas where we can play different teams and teams that challenge us to get better. I remember you trying to get Mint Hill to come around as well but the leadership at the time was dead set against it. However, several of those leaders kids were playing travel ball a year or so later. Anyway, I had some great games with cheese and also the Comets when I had my rec league all-star team and first couple years of Blues.

Rec Ball

Everyone has good points on this topic, this is why me and my daughter sign up for Rec in the fall. We have done this for 2 years now. She gets experience at other positions, more playing time more practices and one sport. I help girls that love the game but just have not had the training. I enjoy giving back to the sport(rec school or travel ball) that has giving my daughter and I so much!!
She has played travel for 5 years now and when she plays with the girls at the rec she helps anyway she can, she gives them advice shows them techniques on fielding throwing and hitting, it is great to see the girls coming together and are willing to learn from each other, mine is still learning and me to! I hope more girls and father\mothers will do the same.
We both have a strong passion for softball and if it helps one or several it's worth it!!
