    I recieved this in an email earlier today. I hope the person who sent it to me is not upset or offended that I posted it here. I did not know Jay but the softball community is a very tight knit one and I am sure there are plenty of folks on here who knew him.

    Please keep Jay's family in your prayers.


    Last night, Jay Alford had issues and had to be rushed to the hospital. It is with great pain and sorrow for me to inform you that he passed away this morning.

    Beyond being a great father and family man, he was a great friend, NC Challenger coach and community leader. We will all miss him greatly. He was a person I could trust and go to for advice. It is hard to find friends like that in todays world.

    Jay Alford

    Jay Alford was a very good friend of mine and my family. My wife and myself had some good times with Jay and Jan over the years. My daughter was also very fond of Jay and took this news pretty hard. The Peavey family's thoughts and prayers will be with the Alford family.

    Wow! This is sad news for sure. Jay Alford was fine young coach, dad, husband, and friend.
