NC vs. SC Senior Challenge

I understand this is not a complete list. There are 20 players representing NC. When I get the remaining players's names, I will post them. Also, I understand that Michael Wright- Whiteville is on the team.

Friday 13th at Coastal Carolina, 7 p.m. & Sat 14th at Coastal Carolina at 2 p.m.

 

1st Game

NC wins the first game 3-1. With the game tied 1-1 in the top of the 7th with 2 outs, Tyler Hanover hits a line drive down 3rd base for a stand up double, Garrison Lassiter hits a triple in the left/center gap off the wall to drive in Hanover for the go ahead run. Cory Thompson hits a single to drive in Lassiter for the insurance run.
Three outstanding plays made:
1) In the top of the 3rd inning with one on and two outs, Cory Thompson hits a rocket to right field and the right fielder (#4 Richard Mounce) drives into the fence and makes the catch for the 3rd out and to save a run.
2) In bottom of fifth inning with no outs and runner on first, the batter (#15 Jeff Campbell) hits a rocket to 2B, Hanover catches the ball and throws to Cory Thompson at first for the double play.
3) In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 1st and 2nd and no outs, the batter (#8 James Rawls) hits a rocket to short center field and Landan Adams makes a diving catch for the first out and to keep runners at 1st and 2nd.

NC Select Allstars Sweep The SC Select Allstars

NC scored five runs in the bottom of the 6th to take a 6-4 lead. SC tied the game in the top of the seventh, with a hit and two reached on errors. In the bottom, of the 8th with one out and the bases loaded, Cam Cockman hits a line shot up the middle to drive in Kevin Brandt for the winning run.

Outstanding Play of the Day:
1) In the bottom of the fourth, with one out and runner on first, Zac Furl hits a ball down by the right field fence, Michael Roth (USC) makes a diving catch for the second out of the inning and keeps the runner at first base; unbelievably!

it was a great event down at coastal carolina. i must say i had a great time and what a learning experience. rubbing elbows with the great bobby dale reynolds for the weekend. not to mention charlie spivey, bruce proctor and jt. this is a great bunch of coaches to hang around. the event itself, was also ran very well. and to be able to coach a team, with all that talent was a wonderful experience for an old coach like myself. to look on the bench and still have all conference, conference players of the year etc. sitting there. how could you go wrong. it was also very nice to sweep the sandlappers for the first time also. a great time had by all, and 2 great baseball games. just had to say, i had a great time and learned alot.

 

I remember back several years ago when I was with Dale Ijames and Pete SHankle, it was a great experience!! First class event and a real honor to have been inolved...

Tommy Baldridge got drafted late by the Yankees. He plays for the Tampa Yankees currently.
